VENUE: AMPHITHEATER

The alumni of Gopalan College of Engineering and

Management started coming into the college premises

reviving their long forgotten memories of their college

days. They registered themselves at the registration desk

and were welcomed by their juniors and faculty

members. By 10:30 AM, the alumni were engrossed in

their interaction with the current 8th semester students

sharing their existence in the college. All students then

entered the amphitheater and awaited for the program to

officially begin. By then at around 11:00 am all the

dignitaries entered the amphitheater and occupied the

front seat.Ms Kalyani Dongarkar of civil Department took

over the stage and greeted everyone in the hall asked to

stand for one minute in Silence to pay tribute to the

martyred CRPF men in the terrorist attack. Dignitaries

were requested them to occupy the Dais. The Program

began with the invocation song which created serenity in

the hall and tranquilness in the minds of audience

present. The dignitaries then lighted the lamp, Dr

Shankar BS Vice- Principal and HOD of Civil department

extended warm welcome to all of them present and

induced the alumni with a couple of information to be a

good professional and lead a good life. This was followed

by our beloved Principal Dr, Sengottayan who projected

motivational clip to create desire in the minds of young

hearts to achieve endeavors.

Chief Guest for the day Mr.Nanda Kishore M addressed

with few words of wisdom and how to become a good

entrepreneur.

A couple of alumni shared their experience of offered

vital advice about the gap between institute and industry

and explained how that gap can be filled. They also gave

suggestions for improvement.

also happy to revisit

the institution that

made them

engineers and meet

the people that

helped them reach

where they are now.

The whole campus

took a festive

atmosphere as the

juniors welcomed

their seniors.

SUGGESTIONS BY ALUMNI

Guest lectures by Industrial experts.

Increase length of semester breaks to encourage students to take up

internships.

Organization of industrial visits frequently.

Increase practical learning sessions.

Joint industrial training project for students.

Industrial awareness programs.

Providing internships to students from industries which have tie up with the

college.

FUN AND GAMES

After the vote of thanks by Dr.Anantha Padmanabhan HOD of ECE the program

went on after a powerful dance by group of Students from CSE dept. The alumni

were asked to take to the stage again, this time, not for suggestions, but for

games mastered by a Professional MC and Final year students who organized a

series of games for the alumni. The alumni enthusiastically participated and

enjoyed the moment.

CONCLUSION

At 1:00 PM, the lunch had been readied and everyone was requested to proceed

to dine in the college canteen, concluding the events of the fruitful alumni meet

program.

REPORT ON ALUMNI MEET

2018

To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the 2nd Annual Alumni Meet 2018, was organized by Alumni cell of

the college. Registrations began by 9:30 am followed by interaction of Alumni with final Year Students .The meet

started traditionally with an invocation song followed by the lighting of lamp on the wonderful afternoon of 10th February, 2018 at GCEM’s Amphitheater. Academic Administrator, Dr. R. Karunamoorthy graced the occasion with his presence along with Principal Dr. A .A.

Powly Thomas. This session was also attended by HODs, faculty members, final year & prefinal year students of

GCEM. The day’s programme had a lot of exciting events lined up. More than 75 alumni students attended the meeting and

shared their views and experiences on this occasion. Dr.Ruhee Hussain, chief Coordinator of this event along with

Branch Coordinators Ms. Aparna, Ms. Sowmya M.J, Ms. Kalyani Dongarakar, & Mr. D.S.Reddy coordinated the

programme and took the responsibility of inviting different batches of students from the last 4years.

Ms. Sunitha (Department of ECE) extended a hearty welcome to the alumni and the dignitaries to the Alumni Meet.

Principal Dr. A .A. Powly Thomas welcomed the gathering with motivational speech to the students. She also

highlighted the benefit that the present students can avail by attending and interacting in these types of get

together.

The Academic Administrator, Dr.R. Karunamoorthy highlighted the achievements of GCEM and called for greater

Alumni Participation. He also shared his view and importance of this kind of get to gather function in his inspiration

speech. He insisted the importance of the skill development programs at the college level. He emphasized the need

for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni, GCEM and current students and encourages having

frequent interaction with Alumni & Students. Executive Dean Dr. Shivaprakash C K also addressed the gathering and

shared his views and guided the students.

Students performed dance and win over the hearts of many during that wonderful eve. The thunderous applause

from the students after the performance has echoed in the entire Amphitheater. It was then time for some of the

alumni students to share their thoughts and suggestions. Students recollected their fulfilled and memorable

moments during the course of their studies in the institute and with all the faculties. Alumni students like Pranav &

Soham also showed interest in motivating and making our students aware of the happening in the market outside by

organizing talks on a periodic basis. The event was made stimulating and enjoyable by organizing Fun games for

Alumni Students.

Everyone appreciated the efforts by the GCEM organizing Team for the 2nd Alumni Meet. The formal part of the

programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Head of Department (Civil Engineering) Mr. C.Prabhakar. In the

end, there was Lunch organized for all invitees. The program ended on a graceful note.

We would like to thank our Gen. Secretary Gopalan Foundation Dr.C.Prabhakar, the Management, Our

principal Dr.A.A.Powly Thomas, Our Academic Administrator Dr. R. Karunamoorthy, and General Manager.

helped directly or indirectly for organizing this alumni meet.

The GCEM ALUMINI MEET-2017 was held in the Amphitheater on 25th February, 2017.

The guest of honor was Dr.Vaidyanathan, The Head HR, Gopalan Group.

The following were the dignitaries present to grace the occasion-

The Alumni-the former students of all branches of GCEM registered and Participated in the event with the

Amphitheater filled with about more than 100participants.

The anchor person for comparing the event was Mrs. Sunitha.K,Asst.Prof.,Dept of ECE.

Mrs.N.S. Sarada Devi, chief Coordinator of this event along with Branch Coordinators Mr. Somasekar, Ms. Sowmya

M.J, Mr.Shreyas, & Mr. D.Sreenivasa .Reddy coordinated the programme and took the responsibility of inviting

The event commenced with an invocation song, and followed by lighting of the lamp at 11:00 A.M.The welcome

speech was given by Mrs.Sharada Devi, The HOD, Dept. of CSE. We had our dignitaries speak few words about the

event. We also had our alumni share few thoughts and their achivements.We had our GCEM students showcase

their dance performance in this event. Vote of thanks was given by Mrs.Fathima,The HOD,Dept.of Mech.Engg.The

event was concluded with photo sessions and refreshments.

Overall, The event planning and execution was incredibly successful.
