Parents and students do not know how to access postsecondary education

69% of our students are not prepared for college level work

Incapability to monitor and track student preparation to access postsecondary education or to evaluate the impact of efforts to improve postsecondary education access

VISIONTo ensure that each student is prepared for and

understands how he/she can access postsecondary education in a way that is supported and expected by the entire community so that all students access and complete postsecondary education.

Objectives To build a knowledge/resource

base for college access which will foster development of a college-going culture in the GCCISD community

To academically prepare students

for access to postsecondary education

To develop a system that can measure postsecondary enrollment and evaluate the success of post secondary access programs

How Will We Evaluate Our Efforts? The steering committee will meet to develop a strategy of how to

evaluate the postsecondary access initiatives.

In addition to the formative and summative evaluations of each individual activity, the overall initiative will be evaluated based on the following:

Advanced placement and dual credit completion will increase College entrance exams taken by high school students will

increase The number of high school seniors completing college

admissions applications and FAFAS will increase Increase in awareness of parents and students surveyed at the

beginning and end of academic school year College readiness percent based on college entrance exams

and TAKS scores will increase

The evidence for the success of these initiatives will be garnered by the WEST system, college transition report, AEIS report, and Lee College’s institutional research department.
