What is Google Glass?

• Google Glass is a type of wearable technology with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD).

• It was developed by Google.• The device has a modular design which

consists of a video camera, speaker, microphone, a prism display, wifi and bluetooth.

• Google started selling Google Glass to qualified "Glass Explorers" in the US on April 15, 2013 for a limited period for $1,500, before it became available to the public on May 15, 2014

• Google entered in a partnership with the Italian eyewear company Luxottica, owners of the Ray-Ban, Oakley and other brands, to offer additional frame designs

What does Google Glass do?

• A Google Glass display information in a smartphone like hands-free format ,that can communicate with the internet via natural language voice commands.

• Google Glass connects to internet via WiFi or bluetooth of your smartphone or Wifi modem.

• You can also reply to your messages and calls by connecting the Google Glass to your smartphones.

• You can take pictures or make videos of live events and share it with your friends instantly.

• Google Glass gives you realtime directions on your heads up display when you are traveling.

How Does Google Glass works?

• Google Glass contains the fundamental components of any computer or smartphone.

• It includes a CPU, speaker, microphone, GPS, Wifi, sensors,bluetooth, camera and a tiny projector that redirects light into your eye.

• A touchpad is located on the side of Google Glass, allowing users to control the device by swiping through a timeline-like interface displayed on the screen.

• Sliding backward shows current events, such as weather, and sliding forward shows past events, such as phone calls, photos etc

• Other than the touchpad, Google Glass can be controlled using "voice actions".

• To activate Glass, wearers tilt their heads 30° upward (which can be altered for preference) or tap the touchpad, and say "O.K., Glass.“

• Once Glass is activated, wearers can say an action, such as O.K Glass "Take a picture", "Record a video", "Google 'What year was Wikipedia founded?'", "Give me directions to the Eiffel Tower", and "Send a message to John"

Controversy

• While Google Glass is a great and advanced piece of technology it also have some drawbacks.

• There are concerns regarding the privacy of the people.

• With Google Glass you can take photos or record videos without the other person knowing.

• There is a fear that a lot of people will miss use this technology.
