What is Fiber

It's not just TV. And it's not just Internet .It's Google Fiber. “No more buffering. No more loading. No more waiting.”

Google Fiber is offering an Internet connection speed 100 times faster than today's average broadband with 1 Gigabit per second, providing FTTH (fiber to the home) service.

HISTORY OF GOOGLE FIBER In 2011, Google launched a trial in a residential community of Palo

Alto, California.

On March 30 of the same year, Kansas City, Kansas was selected as the first city to receive Google Fiber.

The location was chosen following a competitive selection process. Over 1,100 communities applied to be the first recipient of the technology.

After building an infrastructure of the network, in July of 2012, Google announcedpricing for Google Fiber.

The 1st Homes are connected in September 2012.

The service will offer three options. These include a free broadband internetoption, a 1Gbps internet option and a version that includes television service.

In February 2014, Google announced they had chosen another 34 cities as candidates for future expansion.

According to Google, the company will have "updates on which cities will get Fiber by the end of the year.“
