• Explicit images of girls dancing in a rap video
• Black and white video for a indie video
• Dance routine for a girl band
• This also can include men or women in the video being portrayed sexually so the viewer the desire to look at heavy sexual imagery, ‘Scopophillia’
• The notion of looking can also can be seen through the use of props and objects
• ‘Voyeurism’ is a desire to look in a sexual way and intertextual reference to other things
• It has become a norm in music videos and is heavily focused on female artists
There are 3 ways visuals are used to promote a song:• Illustrate - music videos use certain images and shots to
illustrate the meaning of lyrics to their song and genre• Disjuncture – the meaning of the song is completely ignored in
the music video• Amplify - repeatability, when images and the camera shots are
manipulated and shown constantly through the music video
