Lamar Carter RC '09 is featured in an article in Rutgers Focus. Lamar will be attending Camp Starlight this summer, working as the Assistant Head of Basketball. After the summer he will be working for his sister's nonprofit agency, the Against All Odds Foundation ), helping with public relations and media. Ginger Bright SAS '09 was accepted into the MSW program at Monmouth University. Justin Artenant was a speaker at the Rutgers University Upward Bound Summer Institute Closing and Senior Recognition Luncheon. Joana Bernard is the President of the Rutgers University Liberated Gospel Choir and the Vice President of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Eta Upsilon Chapter. Dorcas Johnson DC ’09 is attending the graduate program in Athletic Training at Seton Hall University. Mary Rodriguez is the Public Relations Chair for the Latino Student Council. Vera Brown DC ’05 completed her first year of the Master of Arts program in Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University. She is interning this year with the Veteran's Administration Hospital, in its Substance Abuse Treatment Program. Angie Gomez completed a summer internship in the Office of the Public Defender, where she worked as an investigator intern. Kimberly Herrera was selected to be a member of Vice President Blimling’s Vice President Leadership Cabinet (VPLC) this year. Amml Hussein was selected to be a member of Vice President Blimling’s Vice President Leadership Cabinet (VPLC) this year. Katherine Mateo completed a human resources internship with National Football League this summer. Nelson Morales spent the summer working in a federal program, with an artist in Newark, on a mural about theaters in Newark (primarily movie houses). The artist liked his work so much, that most of his design is being included in the mural, which is located near Broad St. Station. Laura Pettus is the President of the Rutgers chapter of National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA). He is Vice President of the NAACP Rutgers Chapter and this past summer was a judicial intern for Judge Sekou at the Veterans Court House in Newark, New Jersey.

Sasha Harris is the Treasurer and Scholarship Chair of the Iota Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Marcus Henry was invited to become an IRW Learning Community Scholar for the Spring 2010 semester. Tara Luciano just completed a semester abroad in Italy. Jessica Martin was awarded an Aresty Undergraduate Research grant to conduct linguistic research in Costa Rica as part of her honors thesis in the Spanish Department. Jessica was also selected for a summer internship with the U.S. Embassies Overseas, in the Consular Section of the American Embassy in Rome, Italy. Maninder Singh has been accepted into the Master of Science in Accountancy program at Kean University, and into the MBA program at Felician University. Naznin Ahmed is the recipient of a scholarship from the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College. Ramathia M. DeFreese II is a Segment Producer for RU-tv. Paola Maria Dominguez will be participating in the Study Abroad Program in Italy this semester. Alfred A. Edmond Jr. RC ’83 is one of this year’s honorees in the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni. He is the Editor-in-Chief and Senior VP of BlackEnterprise.com. Yetunde A. Odugbesan LC ’09 is working as the administrative assistant to Dean Marc Holzer of the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers Newark. She is a master’s degree student in global affairs at Rutgers-Newark. Yetunde is also an author! She co-wrote a book with Dean Holzer and Mahakoe Etta titled, "A Call to Serve: Quotes on Public Service." Linda Sepulveda is the Secretary of the Latino Student Council and the Treasurer of Latinos Unidos en Poder. Mario G. Angulo participated in a medical relief trip to El Salvador over winter break. He went with the Foundation of International Medical Relief for Children (FIMRC). Monika H. Mackow was selected for two internships this semester. Yetunde Odugbesan LC ’09 was awarded the Lipman Scholarship to attend the Center for American Women in Politics (CAWP's) Ready to Run 2010 Campaign Training for Women. Esther Prado DC ’04 is a Process Scientist at ImClone Systems. She is also enrolled part-time in the Rutgers Business School’s MBA program. Rosa Maria Rawlyk was awarded an SAS Excellence Award. Dr. Angela Robinson celebrated Politics and Possibilities XV, a field trip experience in Washington, DC that she created for students. This year she was accompanied by Assistant Director Azizah Hamiduddin, and EOF students Freddy Kpeli and John Connelly. Gilda Charles LC ’09 just returned from Senegal, where she was working for Oxfam GB in the Economic Justice Department. Jodi-Gail Duncan received the Provident Bank Scholarship, awarded to adult and non-traditional EOF students, and was accepted into the master’s in social work program at Rutgers. Barbara Harmon-Francis, an Assistant Director of the EOF Program, was one of the co-chairs for the EOF Professional Association (EOFPANJ) Conference. Karen Hidalgo was recently certified from Phoenix Language Service Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreting Training. She is licensed under Cross Cultural Health Care program (CCHCP). Karen has been accepted into the master’s in social work program at Rutgers. She received the intern of the year award from Project L/EARN, and was offered a position as a Resident Mentor for the Upward Bound Program. Betsy Rojas has been accepted into the Yale School of Medicine BioSTEP (Biomedical Science Training and Enrichment Program) for this summer. Amanda Alcantara was selected by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to write a letter to all admitted Latino students to Rutgers University. Jorge Casalins was elected Latino Student Council Political Chair. Lillian Forero DC ’07 was accepted to the following law schools: Rutgers-Camden (with a merit scholarship), Rutgers-Newark, Hofstra Law, Pace Law School, and CUNY Law school.
