Betty Marthaler, Good Neighbor Club Director Dear Good Neighbor Club Members,
As I am planning our upcoming activities, I cannot help but think back 25 years ago when we were just
introducing our Good Neighbor Club. There have been many new friendships formed during these years as
we have traveled to many places in the United States and Internationally. I have had the good forune of
sharing many good memories with you, my Good Neighbor Club Members, and I will try hard to continue to
plan trips that will be of interest to you. My door is always open and if you have a suggestion of a trip you
wish me to explore, please stop in, and I will do my best to make it happen. I have had requests to do an
Africa trip and am now in the process of planning one, so please, watch your mail for a travel show.
Presently our Imperial Splendors, including Oberammergau booked for 2020 has 32 people traveling, and I
have started a wait list. If you have an interest in this trip, which happens only once every 10 years, please
call and I will send you the information as sometimes space will open up.

Radio Gals
S. Ives Auditorium—Bloomington
Thursday, October 18th Lunch served at 11:30 Production at 1:00
Set in the 1920’s when radio ruled the airwaves and small stations thrived, Radio Gals is a charming musical about
Hazel Hunt from Cedar Ridge, Arkansas, who broadcasts from her front parlor with her “all-girl” orchestra “The
Hazelnuts”, as radio WGAL. What comes over the local airwaves is an array of hilarious toe-
tapping songs. However, Hazel’s broadcasts are not always so local due to her habit of
impinging on other frequencies, like NBC’s, attracting the attention of a federal radio
inspector who’s intent on shutting down WGAL. It turns out though, he has a fine tenor
voice, plays a mean accordion, and quickly becomes enchanted by the Hazelnuts. From the
creators of Pump Boys and Dinettes.

Antebellum South
March 24th—April 2nd, 2019
The Good Neighbor Club along with fellow Midwest Bank Club directors is sponsoring an American Queen Steamboat
holiday departing from Memphis, TN and cruising to New Orleans, LA.
Join us and explore the land of bawdy blues and Southern belles on this journey
which showcases the history and beauty of the Lower Mississippi River in the
springtime. From Memphis to New Orleans, the river rolls slowly and expansively,
smooth as a southern drawl. The woodlands and bayous along the shore create
dramatic landscapes that are virtually unchanged since the days of the French fur
traders. We will overnight in Memphis with a BBQ and live musical entertainment
at Alfred’s on Beale. While in Memphis, we will have an entertaining tour of the
city including a tour of Graceland. Our port stops include:
Vicksburg, MS Natches, MS Baton Rough LA St. Francisville, LA Nottoway, LA
Lastly, New Orleans, LA, where we will disembark our riverboat and enjoy a city tour and spend the night at the Astor
Crowne Plaza. We will bid “Ai revior” to New Orleans and head to the airport for our flight home.
Please call myself at 320-214-3009 or Pam at 320-235-5900, and we will send you further information or be able to
answer any questions you may have.
