MARKET COMMENTARY
After last week's consolidation, bulls were back in action on Monday as equity benchmarks ended at fresh 2016 closing highs with the Sensex rallying 500 points. The rally in global peers post election results of Japan & Australia and value buying boosted sentiment. The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 499.79 points or 1.84 percent to 27626.69 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rallied 144.70 points or 1.74 percent to 8467.90. The broader markets also participated in the rally with the BSE Midcap ending at record closing high, up 1.5 percent. About 1721 shares advanced against 1042 declining shares on Bombay Stock Exchange.
For today’s trade Nifty likely to trade in the range between 8490 – 8590 in the upper side and 8450 – 8370 in the lower side.

S&P 500 at Record as Stocks Climb on Stimulus Bets, Yen Weakens: - Stocks rose, sending the S&P 500 Index to an all-time high, while the dollar strengthened with industrial metals amid speculation the U.S. economy remains strong enough to propel global growth without forcing the Federal Reserve to tighten policy.
Dollar holds onto gains in subdued trade: - The dollar held onto gains against the other major currencies in subdued trade on Monday, as Friday’s strong U.S. employment data continued to boost optimism over the strength of the economy. The Labor Department reported on Friday that the U.S. economy added 287,000 jobs last month, well above the 175,000 jobs forecast by economists. Average hourly earningswere up 2.6% compared with a year earlier.
Oil turns higher after falling to 2-month lows in choppy trade:- Oil prices turned higher in choppy North American trade on Monday, after falling to a two-month low overnight amid signs of an ongoing recovery in U.S. drilling activity.
Gold stays near multi-year highs amid global stimulus prospects: - Gold prices swung between small gains and losses in North American trade on Monday; staying close to a 28-month high amid speculation central banks in some of the world’s leading economies will step up monetary stimulus.
Natural gas futures edge lower as forecasts point to mild weather: - U.S. natural gas futures edged lower on Monday, as updated weather forecasting models pointed to mild temperatures across most parts of the U.S. in the week ahead.
