Once upon a time in a small village of
Papua New Guinea, lived a beautiful cocoa bean, his name was Gold Soklet.
He really liked to live in his village, but he dreamed
of big adventures.
Gold Soklet desided to travel all over
Papua New Guinea and learn more about his culture.. During his journey he
descovered that in a country of four million people there are 800 different languages. Papua New Guinea cannot be compared with any other country for its rich cultural diver-
sity. There is no such thing as a typical Papua New Guinean. More than 200 cultures, each with different traditions.
Once when he was traveling, he met the World Cocoa Foundation
and became theirs friend.
They told him that the World Cocoa Foundation promotes a sustainable cocoa economy through economic,
social development and environmental conservation in cocoa growing communities.
He desided to join them and open his own chocolate company,
Gold Sokletto show people the beauty and true taste
of Papua New Guinea.
Millions of small, family farms grow cocoa in equatorial regions around the world. For
many cocoa farmers, the crop is a major source of income for their families and their communities. Yet each year, they face signifi-cant challenges ranging from crop loss due
to pests and diseases (on average, 30 percent annually), limited access to the latest farming
practices, and other issues.
The World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) was formed in 2000 to address these issues.
Today, it plays a leading role in helping cocoa farming families by developing and managing effective, on-the-ground programs, raising
funds and acting as a forum for broad discus-sion of the cocoa farming sector’s needs.
Whether it’s raising awareness or providing support for a WCF program, we can make a difference in the lives of hard-working
farming families who depend upon cocoa for their livelihood.
COLOR STORY
MOOD/INSPIRATION
Searching for images and information, creating a mood/inspiration board, playing with type-faces — these were important first steps within the ideation process. Learning how to create patterns while a few original illustrations began to take shape. I also experimented with col-ors, type, and various tools in Illustrator. Many hours were spent in Photoshop getting more familiar with layers, photo manipulation and special effects while striving for desired results. Several weeks were spent within the process of going from company development to product conception to brand ideas to labels and paper wraps to final package production.
