With the focus on energy efficiencyEnergy-efficient fans of international calibre! Swegon’s fans are of the new generation of energy-efficient fans.

The motors are of EC type and have been developed on a new platform that offers the best energy efficiency on the market. Swegon’s EC motors can achieve a peak efficiency of more than 90%. This is more than 10 percentage units better than tradi-tional AC motors with frequency inverters and the difference becomes greater the more the speed of rotation is regulated to decelerate.

Every improvement in motor efficiency can be directly translated into a reduction in operating costs.

What’s more, the fan impellers also have a new design for an even more energy-efficient transport of air and the fan impeller sizes are optimised in relation to the air handling unit sizes.

Plug-and-play saves time and moneyFast installation, limited space requirement and Plug-and-play type accessories connection mean low installation costs.

Here are a few examples:

• The air handling units are complete with direct-driven supply air and extract air fans, supply air and extract air filters, heat exchanger and built-in control equipment.

• The air handling units have short installation length and are easy to handle at the building site. If needed, they can be simply split into sections for transport within the site. The cables between the sections have quick-fit connectors.

• The air handling units take up little space and the fans are designed to manage sharp duct bends arranged directly from the unit without pressure losses. Several of the air handling units can also be ordered with top-mounted duct connection spigots.

• Quick-fit connectors are used for connecting the hand-held micro terminal, supply air temperature sensor, air heater and communication. Other accessories and external functions are connected to an easily accessible row of wiring terminals.

Optimized heat recovery and cooling energy recoverySwegon’s rotary heat exchangers (GOLD RX/LP, COMPACT) offer unbeatable temperature efficiency, up to 85%, and low pressure drop. The rotary heat exchanger recovers cooling energy just as efficiently and with hygroscopic treatment it also recovers mois-ture. This reduces the costs for cooling equipment.

However, in some applications, the airflow paths through the heat exchanger must be completely separate from one another. Such applications call for the use of a plate heat exchanger (GOLD PX) or coil heat exchangers (GOLD CX/SD) as alternatives. Both have an effective freeze protection function that measures both the temperature and the humidity, which provides high efficiency.

Swegon’s heat exchangers cut your costs of operating the heat-ing and cooling system of the building to optimally low levels.

GOLD & COMPACT

IQnomic is an intelligent economist

All the settings and readings can be entered/viewed in plain text via a user-friendly, hand-held micro terminal.

GOLD has a complete control system (IQnomic Premium) which also can be used for system-based functions, e.g. the control of zones and water circuits. For the COMPACT and GOLD LP units, the control system (IQnomic Standard) is designed for the smaller air handling units.

The integrated the IQnomic control system can be used for controlling pressures, airflows, temperatures, energy recovery and running times. Several unique energy-saving functions such as cooling boost, density-corrected airflow and season-related airflow are ready to be activated.

All the settings and readings can be entered/viewed in plain text via a user-friendly, hand-held micro terminal. The hand-held micro terminal is incorporated into the front door of the COM-PACT Air and Heat units.

The air handling unit can be automatically controlled in several different ways via the integrated time switch; however it can also be demand-controlled via a pressure sensor, presence detec-tor or an air quality sensor. Manual control is also possible.

Ready for communicationIQnomic has support for all the customary communication standards. The IQnomic also has a built-in web page ready to be connected to the network via cable and modem. All you need is an ordinary computer connected to the network.

GOLD

The GOLD RX/PX/CX/LP one-piece units are complete air han-dling units with direct-driven supply air and extract air fans, supply air and extract air filters and heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is either a rotary heat exchanger (RX/LP), plate heat exchanger (PX) or coil heat exchangers (CX). The GOLD SD single-direction units are supply air/extract air handling units with one direct-driven supply air or extract air fan. Optional filters are available for all sizes. Coil heat exchang-ers and unmounted pipework packages can be selected for the size 12-120 units.The casing is composed of cover panels and inspection doors. The exterior colour of the GOLD RX/PX/CX/SD is beige (NCS S2005-Y30R) and that of the GOLD LP is white (NCS S0502-G).The GOLD has built-in control equipment that can be operated from the hand-held micro terminal with plain-text display or via communication.The electrical and control system is completely integrated into the air handling unit. The microprocessor-based equipment con-trols and regulates temperatures, airflows and other functions. A large number of functions are built into the system and are simple to activate. If additional functional sections such as dampers and air coolers are required, they can be installed in the ductwork (uninsulated duct accessories) or can be docked directly to the air handling unit (insulated duct accessories).

ApplicationThe GOLD units are designed for use in comfort ventilation applications. Depending on the variant selected, GOLD units can be utilised in buildings such as office buildings, schools, day nurseries, public buildings, shops, residential buildings, etc.GOLD units equipped with plate/coil heat exchanger (PX/CX) and separate supply air and extract air handling units (SD) can also be used for the ventilation of moderately humid buildings; however not where the humidity is continuously high, such as in indoor water parks.The separate GOLD supply air and extract air handling units (SD) are designed for applications in which the supply air and extract air flows need to be completely separated from one another or where, due to limited available space, separate units for supply air and extract air are needed. They can also be used individually if only one of the variants is needed. The GOLD RX/PX/CX/SD units can be installed outdoors and then must be equipped with the following accessories: roof, air intake section and exhaust air hood.The GOLD is designed and tested for temperatures, in the sur-roundings and the air stream, from -40°C to +40°C.

The air recirculation section is available for the size 12 and larger GOLD RX, PX and CX units. The air recirculation section consists of an extra unit section that has a motor-driven damper (on/off or modulating). Depending on how the air recirculation section is to be used, extra sensors may also be required for reading the pressure, room temperature or CO2 content, heating and/or cooling coil temperatures and the status of shut-off dampers for exhaust air and outdoor air.

The GOLD RX/PX/CX/SD units can be installed out-doors with the following accessories: roof, air intake section and exhaust air hood.

The roof is supplied in kit form, complete with the necessary assembly parts and sealing strips. Visible parts are made of sheet steel, painted in a beige colour tone, NCS S2005-Y30R.

Roofs cannot be used on air handling units with top air connection spigots.

Duct accessories, GOLDFor a complete installation, there are duct accessories such as dampers, air heater för pre- and reheat, air cooler, prefilter and sound attenuator.

As alternatives, most of the duct accessories are pro-vided for connection with full cross sectional area, i.e. Full face. This reduces pressure losses, which saves electric power supplied to the fans. The accessories for Full face are integrated into an insulated casing, which reduces the installation costs and facilitates installation outdoors.

COOL DX Cooling unit The COOL DX is a complete cooling system for comfort cooling.

The COOL DX is internally fully wired, charged with refrigerant and the unit is trial run.

The cooling unit can be docked to the GOLD or it can be installed as a stand-alone unit. Only an electric power supply and a com-munication cable (with quick-fit connector) between the Cool DX and the GOLD are required. Plug-and-play!

DeliveryThe GOLD RX 100/120 air handling units are delivered in five separate subunits: two fan sections, two filter sections and one heat exchanger section. The heat exchanger section can also be supplied split into two casing sections and rotor, in which case the rotor is supplied tilted in a transport cradle (transport height = 2930 mm). After assembling the heat exchanger section, install the five units at the building site.

DeliveryThe GOLD RX 100/120 air handling units are delivered in six separate subunits: two fan sections, two filter sections and two heat exchanger sections. The six sections must be fitted together at the building site. The pipework package including the control box can be ordered as accessories and are supplied in unassem-bled condition for wall or floor mounting.

InstallationThanks to its low installation height, the GOLD LP can be installed in false ceiling voids, horizontally in an attic space or in other confined spaces. In order to save floor space, the GOLD LP can also be mounted by a wall (a floor stand is available as an accessory) as an alternative to a conventional unit arrangement. If the unit is mounted on a wall, the electric equipment cubicle must always be located upwards.

COMPACT

The COMPACT units are a complete air handling units with direct-driven supply air and extract air fans, supply air and extract air fi lters, and rotary heat exchanger.

The exterior colour of the visible sheet metal surfaces is white, (NCS S0502-G).

The COMPACT has built-in control equipment that can be oper-ated from the hand-held micro terminal with plain-text display. The electrical and control system is completely integrated into the air handling unit. The microprocessor-based equipment con-trols and regulates temperatures, airfl ows and other functions. A large number of functions, including communication, are built into the system and are simple to activate.

If supplementary functional sections such as dampers and air coolers are required, they must be installed in the ductwork.

ApplicationThe COMPACT Unit and COMPACT Top units are designed for comfort ventilation and can be used in small premises such as offi ces, schools, day nurseries, public premises, shops, residential buildings, etc. The space available in smaller buildings is usually restricted. The COMPACT Unit and COMPACT Top make a very compact installation possible. The COMPACT Unit AHUs have duct connection spigots on their end panels, the traditional way, whereas the COMPACT Top units have them at the top.

The COMPACT Air and COMPACT Heat units are designed for comfort ventilation and can be used in classrooms, day nurser-ies, conference halls, smaller offi ces, workrooms, shops, res-taurants and similar public premises. The COMPACT Air and COMPACT Heat can be installed directly in the room to be ventilated. COMPACT Heat operates in normal applications like COMPACT Air but it can also be used for heating the room with BOOSTER function.

The COMPACT units should be installed indoors.

The COMPACT units are designed and tested for ambient tem-peratures of from -25°C to +40°C, and air stream temperatures of from -40°C to +40°C.
