The DrowsyChaperone Musical

Relaxed Performance

going to the theater

I am going to the Candlelight Theatre to see the musical The Drowsy Chaperone.

box office

I will need a ticket to see the play.

I may have to wait in line to get the tickets from the box office.

lobby

When I get inside the building, I may have to wait in the lobby.

The lobby may be crowded and noisy.

bathroom

I can use the bathroom anytime during the show.

my seat

When I go inside the theater, the theater will look like a restaurant.

I will see chairs and round tables.

usher

Ushers are friendly helpers who will:

1. Welcome me.

2. Give me a program book about the show.

3. Tell me where I will sit to see the show.

inside the theatre

I will sit at one of the chairs at the table to see the show.

I will be facing the stage where the play will be performed.

musical

A musical tells a story through singing and dancing.

Acting out a story is pretend and may not be like the real world.

I can cover my ears or put my headphones on if the music is too loud.

break area

If I need to take a break from the show, I can go to the quiet area.

clapping

During the musical, people will clap when they see something they like.

People clap for a short time.

I can clap too, or I can cover my ears if the clapping noise is too loud.

intermission

There is a break during the middle of the show called an intermission.

When the intermission is over, I will go back to my seat and watch the rest of the show.

end of show

When the show is over, all the actors will come on the stage and bow.

People clap to let the actors know they liked the show.

leaving the theatre

When the show is over, I will leave the theater.

The lobby will be crowded after the show.

I may have to wait my turn to leave the theater and the lobby.
