Psalm 5 (NIV)
1 Listen to my words, LORD, consider my
lament. 2 Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.3 In the
morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. 4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil
people are not welcome. 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence.
You hate all who do wrong; 6
you destroy those who tell lies. The blood thirsty and deceitful you, LORD,
detest. 7 But I, by your great love, can come
into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple. 8 Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness
because of my enemies— make your way straight before me. 9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their
tongues they tell lies. 10 Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. 11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. 12 Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you
surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Goddard Food Pantry:
Sharon Freeman, a member of the Ben Geren Ladies Golf Association, led this group to donate many cans of
food to our Goddard Food Pantry. We are so thankful to Sharon and the other ladies of this group who made
this donation to our pantry as a part of their celebration of Christmas!
We gave 100 turkeys and turkey dinner bags this Christmas Season. This helped 486 people to have a good
Christmas Turkey Dinner because of your generosity. Thank you to each of you who donated and to each of
you who worked in this caring ministry! (See pictures on page 10).
Our Food Pantry also received numerous diapers and baby products from the Birthday for Jesus Children’s
Party. (See picture on page 4) Thank you children and parents and all of you who brought items!
Thank you to everyone who brought items for our Christmas Bazaar Giveaway. This was our 3rd year to do
this; the stage steps in the Great Room and 2 long tables were full of items for our neighbors to select at no
cost to them.
Those of us who volunteer to serve in our Food Pantry are amazed at the number of “God Bless You and your
Church” that we hear from so many as we hand them food. This has been especially true during the Thanks-
giving and Christmas Holidays. We wish all of you who support our Food Pantry could hear their words and
see their smiles. We are not just a blessing to them; we are blessed also!
Thank you again for helping us to share the love of Christ via our Food Pantry Ministry. May you and your
family have a wonderful and healthy 2019!

United Methodist Women
December was an extraordinarily busy month for us! We successfully held meetings, enjoyed a
potluck Christmas meal together, and enjoyed wonderful Christmas music from Shannon Stoddard
and her Community School of the Arts. We installed our new officers (see picture on page 12) and
served a bereavement meal for one of our church families.
Our biggest effort was our Annual Fundraiser Lunch for the Fort Smith Retired Teachers Associa-
tion. What can we say except great food and beautiful decorations. So many women were involved in
this and the other December events! But that is who we Goddard United Methodist Women are…
women who love God, love our neighbors, and help those that we can.
Best wishes to our new UMW Officers. We are so happy you have accepted these leadership roles.
President: Suzie Dunn, Vice President: Sissie Mankin, Treasurer: Pat Singleton, Secretary: Sheila
Geren, Mission Coordinator Spiritual Growth: Lynne Gustafson, Mission Coordination Education &
Interpretation, Social Action, and Membership: Betty Morkemo, and our Nominating Committee:
Fern Daniel, Chairperson, Barbara Rumage, Paige Tyler, and Judy Loux.
Please Note: Circle of Hope will meet at 10 AM on January 8, in the parlor.
Joy Goddard will meet at 6 PM in the parlor on January 15.
