Finally, the visitor shouted, “Enough. You are spilling the tea all over. Can’t you see the cup is full? “The master stopped pouring and smiled at his guest. “You are like this tea cup, so full that nothing more can be added. Come back to me when the cup is empty. Come back to me with an empty mind.” Joseph, ever faithful Joseph, is a model for us to follow. He isn’t caught up by what he believes or knows concerning what ought to be done to a woman pregnant outside of marriage. His mind is on God, Mary, and the expected child. Joseph emptied himself to go beyond the law and into the mystery of God. This annunciation to Joseph opened him up to a new experience of the mystery of life and the mystery of God. In today’s Eucharist, let us pray to be lit with God’s light as Joseph was. Let us pray to empty our minds of what we think we know and let our minds be centred only on what God wants us to know. -Submitted by Tony Chezzi

God’s Word for this Week

Reading I: Isaiah 7: 1-14 Reading II Romans 1:1-7 Gospel: Matthew 1: 18-24

Open to the Mystery of God.

To be open to the mystery of God, we need to let go of what we

think we know. There is a story of a pilgrim in search of wisdom. This

person goes to the ends of the earth to find a renown guru in the hope of

finding wisdom. The master invites the pilgrim to discuss this over tea.

When the tea was served the master poured his visitor a cup. He poured

and he poured and the tea rose to the rim and began to spill over the

table and finally onto the robes of the wealthy man. Finally, the visitor

shouted, “Enough. You are spilling the tea all over. Can’t you see the

cup is full? “The master stopped pouring and smiled at his guest. “You

are like this tea cup, so full that nothing more can be added. Come back

to me when the cup is empty. Come back to me with an empty mind.”

Joseph, ever faithful Joseph, is a model for us to follow. He isn’t

caught up by what he believes or knows concerning what ought to be

done to a woman pregnant outside of marriage. His mind is on God,

Mary, and the expected child. Joseph emptied himself to go beyond the

law and into the mystery of God. This annunciation to Joseph opened

him up to a new experience of the mystery of life and the mystery of

God.

In today’s Eucharist, let us pray to be lit with God’s light as

Joseph was. Let us pray to empty our minds of what we think we know

and let our minds be centred only on what God wants us to know.

WELL DONE!!!

To Maurizio & Cassandra Visentin and Romana Siegel for overseeing the annual GIVING TREE project. Once again the response of the parishioners was very heart warming. There is much deep Christian love in the generosity shown many times during the year by caring parishioners!

The reviews are in! The Advent Into Christmas Concert-Reflection last Sunday was MAGNIFICENT! Thanks to our Principal Musician of Sun. 10am Mass, Matt Kallio for putting together this musical reflection. A very peaceful and joyful reflection to what Advent – Christmas says to us each year. The volunteer choir and musicians brought much beauty to our place of worship. May further events come in the future! Special thanks to Brenda Cavallin (Parish Music Co-ordinator) for her guidance! I estimate about 200 people attended. A total of $367.25 was donated to help offset the debt for our re-shingling of the church roof.

SPECIAL FREE WILL OFFERING FOR BISHOP FRANCOIS A total of $6,413.56 from 172 donors was donated! This will be sent to his Canadian headquarters in Montreal. He expresses his deepest gratitude and that of his people!
