1. What mistake is commonly committed by Filipinos regarding values? Filipinos had often confused goal values with instrumental values. Sometimes, people tend to seek for more money as the ultimate goal, the objective or purpose of his life and forget that the end goal is to follow God and be of service to his countrymen. 2. What is a goal value? Give an example. Goal value or terminal value is the end goal that we strive to achieve and are most important to us. Terminal values are the overall goals that we hope to achieve in our lifetime. Terminal values include inner harmony , social recognition , and a world of beauty . 3. What is an instrumental value? Give an example. I nstrumental values can be defined as specific methods of behavior . Instrumental values are not an end goal, but rather provide the means by which an end goal is accomplished. Instrumental values can be viewed as having 'evolved'. Thus they are the best values we can have to create successful societies. Values such as dishonesty and selfishness destroy societies and, especially in an evolutionary light, are not good for the future of mankind (let alone the groups of people with whom I interact). Examples of instrumental values include: honesty, politeness and courage. 4. Give an example of instrumental value which confused by many people as goal value. Money and career are but instrumental values and the impact can be negative if we use them as our goal values. Like corrupt politicians, their motivation to run for politics is the amount of money they can put in their own pockets rather than to be a serve the people who voted for them. 5. What is the opposite positive value of “Tatamad-tamad”? Of “Tutulog- tulog”? Qualify your answer. Hardwork is the positive value of tatamad-tamad while diligence is the positive value of tutulog- tulog. It is not enough that a person is hardworking, he must be diligent or persistently work to achieve his dream.

1. What mistake is commonly committed by Filipinos regarding values?

Filipinos had often confused goal values with instrumental values. Sometimes,

people tend to seek for more money as the ultimate goal, the objective or purpose of his

life and forget that the end goal is to follow God and be of service to his countrymen.

2. What is a goal value? Give an example.

Goal value or terminal value is the end goal that we strive to achieve and are

most important to us. Terminal values are the overall goals that we hope to achieve in

our lifetime. Terminal values include inner harmony, social recognition, and a world of

beauty.

3. What is an instrumental value? Give an example.

Instrumental values can be defined as specific methods of behavior. Instrumental

values are not an end goal, but rather provide the means by which an end goal is

accomplished. Instrumental values can be viewed as having 'evolved'. Thus they are the

best values we can have to create successful societies. Values such as dishonesty and

selfishness destroy societies and, especially in an evolutionary light, are not good for

the future of mankind (let alone the groups of people with whom I interact). Examples of

instrumental values include: honesty, politeness and courage.

4. Give an example of instrumental value which confused by many people as

goal value.

Money and career are but instrumental values and the impact can be negative if

we use them as our goal values. Like corrupt politicians, their motivation to run for

politics is the amount of money they can put in their own pockets rather than to be a

serve the people who voted for them.

5. What is the opposite positive value of “Tatamad-tamad”? Of “Tutulog-

tulog”? Qualify your answer.

Hardwork is the positive value of tatamad-tamad while diligence is the positive

value of tutulog- tulog. It is not enough that a person is hardworking, he must be diligent

or persistently work to achieve his dream.
