This year for our annual

fundraising the Valley

Central Girls’ Soccer

Team will be doing a

skills challenge. The

money raised from the

fundraising will go to-

ment that are big ticket

items, such as an elec-

ups tent coverings.

There are three chal-

lenges to compete in.

Dribbling (with obstacles

of course), kicking for

accuracy and distance,

and penalty kicks.

Each player is being

asked to collect dona-

tions (flat donations or a

per point donation) for

their efforts in the chal-

lenge.

There is a rewards chal-

lenge as well. Depend-

ing on the donations you

collect, you will get a dis-

will be more information

to follow on the reward

levels.

The challenge will take

Wikipedia says that Light-

ening is a massive elec-

trostatic discharge by un-

balanced electric charge

in the atmosphere. For

the Valley Central Girls

Soccer Team, the lighting

bolt through our soccer

ball is the symbol for the

energy to be turned on

when you step out on the

soccer field. Coach

Giudice started telling her

players to “Turn it On”

when they stepped out

on to the soccer field.

Coach Giudice would

say, “When you step on

the field it’s like turning

on a switch. You are an

athlete working hard as

you can and playing your

best.” As athletes we

know that when you step

off the field you leave

everything you had on

the field. The game is

over and you turn your

switch off and work on

your education, help your

family and your commu-

nity.

it’s not her turn. Working

hard at practice and

pushing herself above

what she thinks she can

do. Playing and practic-

ing with “heart” and never

giving up.

It’s not always an easy

decision to make for

Coach Giudice and

Coach Davis.

Player of the Week

Sept 2 … Teresa Fotino

The Valley Central Girls

team is trying something

new this year, called

Player of the Week. The

player of the week could

be anyone on the team.

The player of the week is

more than just who

scores the most goals. It

can be the player helping

others in practice. Bring-

came out looking phe-

nomenal (including

the one the girls tie-

Walsh!) and a good

time was had by all

the girls.

On Saturday, Sept. 15th

the girls of the JV soccer

team got together to work

on a unique teambuilding

experience: tie-dying tee

shirts. The team met up

at a teammate's house

after practice with their

shirts in hand. This was a

chance to spend some

time away from the field

while getting to know

each other better. The

girls talked and were re-

laxing and not thinking

about soccer while they

were working on their tee
