Message from the Principal -

Sporting Schools Announcement

At this stage, we have not had confirmation from the Sporting Schools Unit that our grant for Term 4

has been accepted. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, we will not be able to offer the Sporting

Schools program at our school this term. We hope to be able to once again offer this fabulous program

in Term 1, 2018. We do regret having to inform you of this decision, however without the grant/funding

approval from the Sporting Schools Unit we cannot run this program. Thank you!

P&C Christmas Raffle

This year the P&C are asking for donations of non-perishable goods to make

baskets/hampers of goodies for a big raffle for our school and the wider

community. The P&C are hoping to make 15 hampers/baskets to raffle and it

would be wonderful to create 21 baskets or more just like in 2015.

Within the next 2-3 weeks, the P&C will send home a small book of raffle tickets for $1.00

each to every family to sell.

Tickets will also be sold at Presentation Night on Tuesday 5th December at the RSL at 6.00pm. The raffle

will be drawn at the end of the Presentation Night.

Please send non-perishable items to the office. A collection box will be located in

the admin office. Examples of items may include:

Cans of food or drink

Christmas items – bon bons, puddings, decorations etc..

Toiletries (unused) e.g. shampoo, conditioner, hair items, soaps

Packets of food

Kitchen items

Any items suitable to fill a clothes basket to make hampers would be appreciated. Please do not send

second hand or used items. Thank you for your support and for helping raise funds for the students of

Gloucester Public School.

Presentation Night

Please keep Tuesday 5th December free on your calendar for our annual Presentation Evening.

Semester 2 – Yearly Reports

Semester 2 Reports are under way. Reports will be sent home with students in a sealed envelope

addressed to the parent/carer on Thursday 14th December.

New Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA)

Our new COLA will be constructed in the middle playground in the summer holidays. I would like to thank

the P&C for their support in gaining a grant and providing funds totaling $20,000, with the school

contributing the additional funds to ensure there is further protection from the weather and more play

spaces in hot or wet weather for all students.

The COLA will cover a large area which includes the volleyball courts, however will not cover the whole

area. This COLA is a welcome addition and the students and families of our school are very lucky to have

such a supportive P&C. All monies raised by the P&C go towards resources and assets for our school.

Please support your P&C.

The next fundraiser is the Christmas raffle. Our GPS Cookbooks are available and are an excellent Christmas gift. Yours in Education Leanne Wakefield

School Public Speaking Competition

Recently all our Stage 2 and 3 students have

been working hard on preparing and presenting

speeches to their class. We have learnt all about

horses, dancing, cars, sports and a number of

other interesting topics.

From these presentations, we have chosen 4

students from each year to speak in the finals of

the competition. The students have been notified

if they are a finalist.

The finals will be held on Tuesday 31st October

in the school hall. Stage 3 will speak at 11:15am,

and Stage 2 at 1:30pm. The speeches will be

adjudicated by Layne Ross, an English teacher

from Gloucester high school.

Parents are more than welcome to come and hear

the students speak.
