For Your Family: The Birth of JesusThis week might be a good time to tell your children the story of their birth(s). As they hear their story, you can then compare that to the story of Jesus’ birth. As you prepare, think about the circumstances of their birth, how you announced it to others, and how people reacted to the news. Read together Luke 2:1-20.1. Tell the story of your child’s/children’s birth(s). Compare that story to the birth of Jesus: Born in a far away town Wrapped in swaddling clothes (strips of linen) Put in a feeding trough 2. Tell the story of how you announced to others their birth(s).Compare that story to how God announced Jesus’ birth: An angel, with God’s glory, announces: Good news of great joy A Savior, who is Christ the Lord A sign: a baby in a manger A crowd of angels joined in, praising and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace …” 3. Tell the story of how others reacted to the news of their birth(s).Compare that story to how the shepherds reacted: “Let’s go see the baby!” Telling their story Glorifying and praising GodApplication: Talk about specific ways your family can glorify and praise God this holiday season: Go together to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. Invite someone to come with you. Read together the Christmas story and pray together before opening presents. Tell someone the story of Christmas. Other ideas:

Next Steps:o I am so thankful that God’s glory is not restricted to a particular people,

but is for all people. I will look for the Glory of God in unexpected people and places.

o I will respond like the shepherds: the desire of my heart is to believe God, share his message, and give him praise.

o My gift/response to Christ this Christmas will be: ___________________.
