GLORIFICATION
Ben Franklin and the resurrection
Quick summary of the doctrine of
Glorification
•Believers who have died will have their bodies raised, glorified, and rejoined to their spirits•Believers who are alive will instantly have new bodies and be “caught up” with Jesus.
Glorification is God’s way of
making things perfect again.
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Glorification is the FUTURE and FINAL work
of God upon Christians where he transforms our mortal physical bodies to
the eternal physical bodies in which we will dwell
forever.
The final link (Romans 8:30)•Justification, Redemption, Regeneration, Propitiation and Adoption•Sanctification•Glorification
Romans 8:30“And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”
What does glorification
include?
Moral perfection and free from the PRESENCE of sin; God’s final removal of sin from the life
of his children.
An IMMORTAL body
We will be with CHRIST
We will be revealed as the beloved TREASURE
of God
We will REIGN with Christ
All of creation will also be renewed.
This has nothing to do with REWARDS.
Biblical teaching•Job 19:25-26; Psalm 49:15; Daniel 12:2; Jon 5:28-29; John 6:39-40; Philippians 3:20-21; 1 Corinthians 15:12-58
What will the resurrection body be like?• Imperishable (1 Cor. 15:42)•Glorified (1 Cor. 15:43a)•POWERFUL (1 Cor. 15:43b)•Spiritual (1 Cor. 15:44)•PHYSICAL (2 Cor. 5:2-4)•Mysterious (Mark 16:14)
Christ will still be preeminent- “the
FIRST-BORN from the dead.”

• In the FUTURE (1 Cor. 15:52-53)•At the 2nd coming of Christ (Ephe. 5:27; Phil. 3:20-21; Col. 3:4; 2 Thess. 1: 10)• In a MOMENT (1 Cor 15:51)
God’s Order
•Christ the Firstfruits•The dead will be raised FIRST (1 Thess. 4:16)•Then believers who are still alive will be instantly CHANGED. (1 Thess. 4:17)
How do we know it’s possible?•Christ is the First-fruits. (1 Cor. 15:20)•His resurrection is the promise and our GUARANTEE.
What is the purpose of our glorification?
•The glory of GOD. (Ephe. 1:3-6, 12)
So What?•Our salvation is not yet complete•Our glorification is CERTAIN.•This helps us bear our struggles in this life. (Rom. 8:18-19)
