Introduction
• You know what global warming is and you know what the consequences are, but what you don’t know what we can do to stop it.
• There are a ton of ways to reduce the threat of global warming. I will present a few of the many ways to make the world better for our future.
Recycling • Recycling can help reduce a
lot of carbon dioxide. This is important because carbon dioxide is one of the main causes of global warming.
• If we recycle half of our household waste, we can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide.
Planting Trees
• Trees give off oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide.
• In a tree’s lifetime, it will absorb about 1 ton of carbon dioxide.
• For example: If a group of people planted 100 trees, those 100 trees would absorb about 100 tons of carbon dioxide.
At Home: Using Less Energy
• Home energy accounts for 21 percent of America's global warming pollution.
• Turning off electrical items when they’re not used is an example of using less energy.
• Changing light bulbs is another example.
Using Less Energy While On The Road
• Transportation is the biggest source of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions, more than factories or homes.
• Ways to reduce global warming are to use less gas when riding in a car or buy a fuel efficient car like a hybrid.
