Client Case Study Global Timecard System The Challenge A multi-billion dollar package delivery company and leading global provider of specialized transportation and logistics (supply chain / transportation) services needed to streamline the recording of activities and operational statistics of multiple employees charged with deliveries distributed throughout different seg- ments of the global organization. In the past, infor- mation coming from delivery acquisition technology devices were not being consolidated properly into actionable information that could be utilized appro- priately by stakeholders. The Solution Working with stakeholders, DATA Inc. provided a development team to bridge the gaps between dispa- rate mainframe deployments, client-server systems and delivery devices. The resulting solution, dubbed the Global Timecard System was designed to record the activities and operation statistics of employees of different segments of client operations; specifically individuals who support package delivery operations throughout the globe. The Global Timecard System consolidates information from multiple delivery devices and web interfaces onto virtual timecards. The virtual timecards are then validated against complex business rules and other statistics and then forwarded onto the payroll application for the appropriate next steps. Once the information is on the virtual timecard, stakeholders throughout the organization can retrieve information filtered by day, month or year through different Operation Statistic Calculation and Reporting Applications.
