anintroduction

The business world of the 21st century is marked by rapidly expanding contact across boundaries and cultures, and also by ‘VUCA’ -

volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.

Have you and your staff learnt the skillsnecessary for crossing boundaries in a global context?

Not so long ago, working internationally was limited to a few elite expats or sales managers dealing with a limited number of markets. Today the world we work in is truly global, where more of us than ever are under pressure to get things done by collaborating across boundaries and cultures. At times this can be enjoyable and stimulating, but at others it can be frustrating and challenging. Nowadays, to deliver a global strategy, organisations need to be supported by people who can successfully build relationships and achieve goals with colleagues, clients and partners from all around the world. But, as we say, no one is born global.

Preparing your people means accelerating the development of world-class collaboration and communication skills, both face-to-face and at a distance, cross-cultural sensitivity, and ability to know when to adapt to others and when to enforce consistency around corporate values and norms. We call these ‘global people skills’. The outcome of our Global People Programme is a learning passport ensuring greater readiness for global mobility, cross-boundary leadership and international project work.

“In my 20-year experience in the relocation industry, I’ve dealt with many different nationalities and attended many different training workshops in the intercultural field…so I consider myself a ‘bit of an expert’ in working across cultures. However, to my pleasant surprise, the “Global People Programme” I attended was by far the most instructive, emotional and fun experience I’ve ever had. During this highly intensive workshop I had a rollercoaster opportunity to practice, make mistakes, meditate and learn about how challenging and exciting it is to develop yourself as a “global person”! Hold on to your seats if you attend - learning has never been so practical or exciting.

Maddalena M., CEO of a Relocation Company

“It’t not easy to keep the audience engaged while having fun and learning, but this programme managed to do all of this.”

People who can both adapt to the cultural approaches of others and also remain true to themselves, while consistently spreading the values of their organisation (we call this gyroscopic leadership)

People who are pioneers, able to transfer their talents into unfamiliar contexts and create new solutions through integrating diverse perspectives

People who span boundaries by building bridges across difference, able to collaborate, motivate and live company values across cultures and distance

People able to lead the organisation into tomorrow because they have developed what we call global leadership imagination: the ability to make sense of the unfamiliar - both to themselves and others;

On the one hand, the highly experiential activities challenge participants to reflect on their instinctive or default approach to cultural diversity. On the other,

the debriefing and insight sessions allow participants to build a wider choice of responses, allowing them to become more ‘strategic’ in their approach. With

greater choice on how to manage diversity and distance, participants can use this response-ability to better navigate the key challenges of today’s global operating

context.
