OVERVIEW The globalized economy of the 21st century demands graduates be fluent in international perspectives—whether or not their prospective industry is commercial. Our Summer Internship Program allows students to immerse in the culture, while facilitating the development of their international communication, professional and intercultural intelligence skills through a practical international internship experience. The 9-week program will be a four-part experience: academic component, orienting students on concepts and culture led by local professors at Insper; the practicum, or the internship placement; coaching, mentoring student interns during their practicum led by a local professor or professional; and unpacking, reflecting and developing takeaways contributing to a more global mindset. The academic component of the Summer Internship Program consists of two

modules; one core and one elective.

All students are registered to the core module — the Latin American International Business Environment. Students will also have the option available to them of one elective module: Portuguese Language for

CORE MODULE:Latin America’s

International Business Environment

The Global Engineering Internship Program is designed to introduce students to Latin American Market in the global context - its impact on the global economy, cultural customs, communication practices (etiquette), the engineering field and practice in Brazil, and key stakeholders (i.e companies and organization). Instructional methods include orientation, academic module, in-class discussions, field experiences, cultural engagements, mentorship with Insper professionals, and internship assessment/reflection held at Insper.

In class hours: 33 hrs + 8 hrs of individual study

ELECTIVE:Portuguese for Professionals

The course introduces students to Brazilian Portuguese grammar, vocabulary, communicative functions, and sociocultural content, compatible with A1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF). Using a comprehensive methodology classes will be expository through conversational activities, text study, discussion topics and lists and video watching with posterior debates.

In class hours: 10 hrs + 7 hrs of individual study

PRACTICUMstructure

The practical component of the Global Engineering Internship Program is an internship placement.

Internship placements are available in multiple fields of engineering Applicants will be placed in a position in one of the following categories of organizations: a startup, a

company (local business or multi-national) or a non-profit organization
