Glidden Professional™ products are specifically designed for professional painters by experienced chemists using quality raw materials. They are designed not to fade, even in rich, saturated tones. Products excel in hide, coverage, washability, touch-up, and scrubability. Before our paint goes in the can, paint formulas are torture-tested in our labs, and the results are conclusive: in independent tests, our formulas were rated higher in quality than many more expensive brands, and as good as one that costs over $50 per gallon. To you that means: no call-backs, no wasted time to fix the paint, and less labor costs. That, of course, means you have more satisfied customers, more referrals, more time, and more profits.

Best-for-Task Products

DurabilitySelect these top quality products when a long-lasting, highly durable coating is required. They are made with quality acrylics to provide superior abrasion resistance and toughness, extending the lifecycle of paint. They are ideal for use in commercial and residential applications. These products meet rigid MPI standards and are low VOC.

This test measures the blocking of four paints. Blocking is when two painted sur-faces, (e.g. a door and a door jam) stick together. In this picture the top panels were placed against the lower panels for several hours and then were peeled apart. Note how the Glidden Professional Diamond 350 semi-gloss paint on the far left resists blocking while the three other products damage the paint film.

This is an ASTM test method measuring the adhesion ability of paint films. The surface is cross-hatched with a knife and a special tape is applied to the area. The tape is then peeled from the surface and any paint removal is noted. The Glidden Professional Diamond 450 eggshell paint (on left) adheres well while a more expensive competitive product fails due to poor bonding of the paint to the surface.

having low or no VOC products. Our low environmental footprint products have higher hiding power, meaning you will apply less coats, therefore lowering the potential environmental impact of the job. Using a product with higher durability will extend the maintenance cycle, meaning less coats of paint need to be applied over time, again lowering the potential environmental impact. These products are ideal for commercial and institutional applications such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels and offices.

EconomyThese products were specifically developed for property maintenance applications. Within the economy platform, products excel in both hide and coverage. We offer paints formulated to meet the requirements of painters, building contractors and building managers. Products offer high production with excellent dry hide and good touch-up ability, so you can get in, get out and get into the next job.

ProductivityThis grouping of products offers the ability to maximize speed and efficiency on the job, without sacrificing quality. Our paints are specially formulated to meet the high production requirements of professional painters, remodelers and maintenance professionals. Quality acrylics are used in these formulations to deliver excellent touch-up, hide, coverage, and application properties when applied by brush, roller or spray. The Ultra-Hide brand has been recently reformulated to provide excellent touch-up, especially in those dark neutral colors that have become so popular in commercial buildings. It also delivers great burnish resistance, hide, and block resistance.

Lowest Environmental FootprintThese products meet “green” standards and reduce the environmental impact across the entire life cycle. Many of our products are formulated without the addition of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in order to meet air quality guidelines. Reducing hazardous chemical content or even using more efficient manufacturing or transportation processes, can help ensure a lower potential environmental footprint. The elimination of emissions from organic solvents also allows freshly painted rooms to be put back into service faster because residual paint odors are virtually non-existent after the paint has dried. The innovative Lumitec Technology® color palette maximizes the reflection of natural light in all spaces, increasing lumens of artificial lighting which reduces energy consumption. The presence of increased natural lighting creates the illusion of a larger space. Lumitec Technology color palette is available in our Diamond 450 product line.
