Quality Learning, Care, Innovation, Opportunities & Technology securing a leadership program through the Salvation Army targeting leadership and co-operative skills in our Year 5 and 6 boys. This program was provided free of charge and was led by Jason, an Education Officer with the Salvation Army. The boys participating benefited greatly from the lessons taught in these sessions and have applied the skills in day to day life both at home and school. At our recent mufti day the students from K-6 raised $500 which was presented to Jason and the Salvation Army last Thursday at our K-6 Assembly, to further the work of this worthwhile program. Year 4 Excursion to Australiana Pioneer Village Visit On Wednesday of Week 8 Year 4 travelled to Australiana Pioneer Village in Wilberforce. In class we have been learning about the various explorers who discovered different parts of Australia - particularly those in the Hawkesbury region. Our day began with a live sheep shearing exhibition followed by a sewing demonstration. We learnt about the housing in early Australia and discussed the availability and use of natural resources from the land. We saw old bank buildings and police stations and spoke about how children in the ‘olden days’ would have lived. We visited an old school classroom and re-enacted a typical lesson in early times. Some students got into the spirit of early Australia and dressed in costumes. A fantastic day was had by all students. Year 5 Antarctica Experience Earlier this term Year 5 had a visit from Chris Olsen who has visited Antarctica and came to talk to the children about his experiences.

Kindergarten Farm Excursion On Friday Kindergarten students from KD, KK, KR, KW and K/6S went on their very first school excursion to Calmsley Hill Farm. A fabulous day was had by all! The day began with a walk around the farm to visit all the animals. The students all had a turn patting a duckling, chick and baby rabbit. In the farm yard nursery the boys and girls got to get up close to goats and lambs. All the children and some brave teachers had a turn milking the cow! The tractor ride through the paddock was a hit with all the students. After lunch the farmers showed the children how they shear sheep and crack whips. The amazing sheep dogs were the star attraction as they skilfully rounded up the sheep and moved them around the paddock.

T20 Blast—Girls Cricket

The girls played 4 games at Blacktown International Sporting fields. We were not beaten in any match but unfortunately were seeded 3rd after the three rounds because of a countback of 1 run. The girls were

outstanding and could not have played any better. Unfortunately in a ten team draw these things can happen when only 3 rounds are played. A big thanks to all the parents who assisted with transport and stayed to support during the matches. Well done girls! The team members are: Kristen, Taylor, Janaya, Maya, Nadine, Brooke, Loureen and Sarah.

Basketball Gala Day

On Thursday last week we had two Year 4 teams compete in the Stage 2 Penrith Basketball Gala Day. The boys team were successful in making it into the quarter finals—only being defeated in double over-time! Our girls came very close to making the grand final, only losing by 2 points in the last minute of their semi final. Both teams showed outstanding sports-manship and skill throughout the carnival. The teams were: Tom Caelum, Tyler Riley Liam, Domanic and Brayden . Madison, Emily Saskia, Bridie Georgia Ebony and Zoe.
