London these guys have playedthe same London clubs and ven-

ues that GNR did in the 80sfrom the Marquee Club to

the Mean Fiddler andHard Rock Cafe in

Hyde Park. After GB06 we had tohave G2R back. Sincethen they've sold out thefamous Cavern Club inLiverpool 2 nights in a rowas well as many othervenues and theatres thatthey have played nation-wide. Totally focused onnot only cloning thesound of GNR better thanthe rest Guns 2 Roses arealso mirror images to Axland the boys, with stageperformances down tothe last detail.

Tribute

Teen Spirit - The Ultimate Nirvana Tribute. The band have been touring the UK and Europefor thirteen years now. 2004 saw their 10thanniversary, which also coincided with the 10thanniversary of Kurt Cobain's death, who diedon April 5th 1994.

The band have been acclaimed as one of themost authentic tribute bands ever, by venuesand promoters worldwide as well as magazinessuch as Kerrang and Metal Hammer.

You don't just have to be a Nirvana fan to enjoya Teen Spirit show. Although the band play aGreatest Hits set, they cover songs fromNirvana's complete back catalogue. Due totheir energy and showmanship Teen Spiritappeal to fans of British punk, American punk,nu-metal and classic rock alike.

Hours before the ‘Ded Hot ChiliPeppers’ take to the stage, there isalready a crowd gathered, anticipating another storming performance from them. It is nothard to understand why they are sopopular. The Ded Hots are four terrific showmen, who throw atremendous amount of style andenergy into a set that is comprisedof all the Chillis Greatest Hits. Theband is spot on in terms of musical-ity, yet it is their stage presence thattruly causes them to shine. Theirbassist, Pete, with his Mohican hair-cut and skeleton costume recreatesthe manic presence and of Flea.Their singer also matches the smooth Californian tone of Anthony’s voice, and he imitates him to near-perfection. These guys have got to be the best Chilli tribute andwhether you are a fan or not, they offer great high-energy entertainment.

Since the early days of DefinitelyMaybe, the number one sellingdebut album from Oasis, the wholeworld has been made to sit up andlisten. This album alone changed theface of not only the British musicscene, but the world over. Oasishhave now fine tuned their show somuch so, that fans are now hailingthem as being better than the realthing. Unlike other Oasis tributes,Oasish are a full 5 piece band andalso play every single song note fornote as it is on all of the albums. They have the look, the sound andmost of all the ability to make anyvenue rock to the sounds of one of

the most influential bands in history. As one fan said, "Oasish were far more entertain-ing than the real thing on the 2 occasions I have seen them...I’d watch Oasish every-time!”

We couldn't let the festival pass without tip-ping the hat to the 30yr anniversary of allthings 'Punk Rock', and who better to represent this than the worlds leading tribute to the grandaddy of them all - the'Sex Pistols Experience'! A hugely popularshow band on the U.K's live circuit for thelast 6yrs, they are also regulars on theEuropean festival scene. Last year saw thebands reputation spread even further over-sea's with three & a half months of toursaround the U.S.A. Gaining approval by theSex pistols themselves having played livewith Guitarist Steve Jones in Los Angelesthey have spent a long time perfecting thelook & sound, down to every last detail. Soalike are they, that the band have been hiredseveral times by T.V companies to act as thePistols, with appearances for the BBC, SKYT.V, Ch4 & Fox Rocks in the U.S.

various original and signed bands.

Having played Glastonbudget 06 Us4//U2 have been invited back to headline thetribute stage on Saturday night. And what a show we are sure they’ll be put-

ting on.

With the bass lines threatening to split my sternum, spot on vocals, drumsthat would likely as not waken the dead from the nearby church-yard, gui-

tar that must make The Edge edgy for his own posi-tion in the band this band would give the

original U2 a good run for their money!

Best known as the lead singer from The Specials, and as one of the founding membersof Fun Boy 3, Neville Staple is credited with changing the face of pop music not onlyonce but twice. Neville's biography and past projects read like a who's who of rock.He has worked with such legends as Elvis Costello (The Specials 1979 - ChrysalisRecords), David Byrne (Fun Boy 3 Waiting 1983 - Chrysalis Records), and Ali Campbell(Today's Specials 1996 - Kuff Records/Virgin), to name only a few. His talents are foundon the unique tribute album, Searching For Jimi Hendrix (1999 - Capitol Records) aproject that Neville is personally quite proud of. In addition to having recorded withsome of rock's most famous, he has also shared the stage with such icons as RankingRoger (English Beat) forming Special Beat. Although this line-up never actually recorded an album they successfully toured the U.S. with Sting and Steel Pulse, whichultimately lead up to their own headline tour. Since 1998 Neville has been on a missionto entertain, successfully touring Japan, South America and extensively touring NorthAmerica with his band. It is worth seeing Neville's live performance; his captivatingstage presence and distinct voice are well worth it. Catch his show on Sunday.

After getting air-play on national radio stations such asBBC Radio 1 and Virgin Radio even thereal Stereophonics have now heardthem and agree that they sound good. All of this from what started out as ahobby all those years ago, is just testa-ment to the skill and finesse each andevery show contains. The Stereotonics return toGlastonbudget and are back by populardemand. They rated highly on the internet poll last year and we're gladthey are here to entertain us once more.

Who's Who is a dynamic powerful tribute band from the U.K with all of the ener-gies, passion and angst of The Who at their peak. They recreate the classic hits. The band is a five-piece and incorporates keyboards in order to authenticallyreproduce the full orchestration of albums such as, 'Who's Next','Quadrophenia' and 'Tommy'.

Who's Who's exciting live performances with Townshend's leaping andDaltrey's microphone whirling antics receive incredible reactions countrywide. But it’s not just about the theatrics; they are widely recognised andrespected by their musical peers, and The Who hierarchy as the leadingWho tribute style band in the country.

Armed with little more than one albumfrom which to construct their set (albeitan album from which the entire audienceknows the words to every single track),they're scorching and even earn themselves an encore.

They play You Look Good on theDancefloor a second time but the audi-ence certainly doesn't mind. If AlexTurner and Co really dislike publicity somuch, they could do a lot worse thanpaying the Antarctic Monkeys to do theirtours for them.

Fantastic Set With a new album due nextfew months and more material thenwatch out GB Antartica are armed anddangerous.

Purple and the Rains are a threepiece power trio with Georgie on guitar and the singer, francis on bassguitar and robert on drums. Georgiewrites the songs for the band. Theyplay lots of gigs all round the midlands and we have been in a fewcompetitions. You have to keep youreyes on Georgie to fully appreciatehis mastery of the guitar and to fullyenjoy the experience as Georgieplays the guitar with his teeth, behind his back and has many more tricks he can perform on stage. The band regular-ly play local gigs at the Shed and The Musician in Leicester centre and we are travellingfurther afield with gigs. Purple and The Rains sent a demo to be in a competition calledThe Band of Britain Awards by Amicus. The band got picked out of 1000's of bands outof the whole country and played at the semi-finals which was took placed inNottingham at Rock City. Purple and The Rains got through to the final and played inLondon at an open-air festival called The Scoop. The band has also made live appear-ances on BBC Radio Leicester and been played on Fosseway Radio. They were alsoasked to write a song for The Children's Society, called I'm Just Me. Lyrically Purple andthe Rains are quite simplistic. They write all there own songs and their goal is tobecome professionalmusicians.

The electro/indie/pop acthas been steadily risingsince their formation inearly 2005. Members KrisAndrew (Vocals), JohnRandall (Drums), JayGoodrich (Bass), RichardTyler (Guitar), Ben Groom(Keys), started out in theirhometown of Ipswich and have since played over 150 shows all around the country.

Rosalitas jerky sound and manic live performances have created quite a stir amongstfans and industry alike, with their journey so far including huge shows at major venuessuch as The UEA, Norwich; Corn Exchange, Cambridge; and Carling Academy, Islington. This coupled with radio airplay from influential BBC 6 Music DJ Steve Lamacq, and vic-tory in Archant Newsgroups ‘Next Big Thing’ competition means Rosalita is fast becom-ing the name on everybody’s lips on the unsigned scene.

Formed in 2006, TheCarnabys began life asa Beatles cover bandunder the name ofThe Jist. But asW i l l i a m s o n / I l i f f ebegan to write mate-rial in August 06', theband transformedfrom 60's cabaret to60's inspired rock 'n'roll with attitude,belief and mesmeris-ing songs. At the startof 2007, Walkerjoined on drums after

The Carnabys had so many stick men they lost count. "We think our sound is unique inmodern terms. No one out there sounds as good as us. From the past? Maybe TheKinks trying to be The Who…or The Who trying to be The La's" Headland tells me witha confused look.

Back in 2006, The Carnabys were initially described as a band "wearing their heart oftheir sleeves too much". But as the boys aggressively defend; "It is who we are. Wewere brought up on this diet of classic, 60's, rock 'n' roll"."If it wasn't that then maybesome late 50's stuff or, at alater date, Oasis". The banddub themselves as "Rootsy, edgy, and driven, with plen-ty of soul"

Formed in Leicester at thebeginning of 2003 from theashes of other bands, ProudTo Have Met You use theirsimilar tastes in music toform the basis and ground-ing of their songs, whilstusing their own personal influences to craft their unique sound.

The history between the four members could not be more complicated but all youneed to know is that Proud To Have Met You are Phil Poole, vocals and lyricist, DaleMajor, guitarist and co-song writer with bass player Ben Little. Finally the backbone ofthe band is drummer Matt Smith.

The Tie Club

The tie club was founded in 1985 by a group of regulars in a pub inLeicester who set about raising money for charity. It was decided todonate all of this money to Ash Field School in Leicester for the supply ofElectric wheel chairs. To this day, they still remain their charitable causealthough donations have been to other local charities.

We Need Your HelpThe Tie Club became well known for the crazy stunts they pulled, fromcycling 212 miles from Newhaven to Leicester dressed as NormanKnights, mounted on cycles that looked like horses, to rowing a boat fromLeicester to Nottingham dressed in 'Maid Marion' cos-tumes.

Oars For The Cause

As the name may suggest, The Tie Club is taking to thewater again. This year, five members will attempt to rowa boat from London to Thurmaston (North Leicester), travelling along theGrand Union Canal. Two of the members rowing are two of the organis-ers of Glastonbudget, Nick Tanner & Chris Dunn. They will leave Londonon Saturday 16th June, and arrive back in Thurmaston on Saturday 23rdJune, after navigating 130 miles and 140 locks.

Whilst the rowers are breaking their backs, hands covered in blisters, other members of The Tie Club will be back at base, The Harrow(Thurmaston), organising and participating in other fund raising activi-ties, such as static rowing, a treasure hunt, quiz and fancy dress night. These events, along with other fundraising, have helped the Tie Clubraise in excess of £142,000. Details of these activities and an in depth his-tory of the tie club can be found on their website www.thetieclub.co.uk.If anyone would like to champion this very worthy cause, either by dona-tion, sponsorship or just offering support please either visit the websiteor enquire at The Harrow in Thurmaston.

An all girl four piece rockband that's original, goodlooking, talented and born torock, Christ, what more dowant when your sitting in afield in Leicestershire andyour beers gone warm. IdleSilver are a fresh, hard hittingband from aroundWarwickshire. Formed fromthe ashes of Lovebites, for-mer members Beka, Lauraand K@ decided to continueto fuel their passion for rockmusic by going for a raw and

edgy sound that makes you want to rock. At the beginning the of the year, and due tomusical differences (yes, that old chestnut), Idle Silver was formed. Joined by a sassynew bassist, Flo. They have produced a sparking new edge to all their original newmaterial. You can't t watch and listen to these girls without being moved by the ener-gy they give off, it's infectious, but in a nice way. With just an average age of 18, don'texpect these girls to be teenyboppers with guitars, they are so much more.

The Voodoo Vegas boys will be kicking this year at GB, with a great stage set of thoserockin 'n' rollin songs you've come to love or may be experiencing for the first time. The thing is, you see, these boys never sit still, so check out their website andMySpace sites for their latest gigging news and, much like when you see them live, take a listen to their two cracking new songs, 'Samaritan Man' and 'Perfect Girl;' thentell me this band aren't one of the best rock 'n' roll bands this year. Voodoo Vegas playSunday night.

Introducing the most frightening thing to come out of Nottingham since Torvill andDean... rising from the ashes of what was undoubtedly the greatest "Blue PeterMetal" band of their time - Thor's Children, Evil Scarecrow have gone on to leave audi-ences awed by their Iron Maiden meets Black Metal meets stickyback plastic perform-ances.

With influences from artists such as Cradle Of Filth, Slayer, Europe and of courseImmortal's make up application techniques, you can never be too sure what will beserved up next, but that's just part of the experience.

It is Evil Scarecrow's impressive song writing and ingenious lyrics that are the key totheir success, blending together humour with their love for all things Heavy Metal…though of course a bit of co-ordinated dancing never hurt anyone! It is this passionand enthusiasm which never fails to connect with their audience.
