Have you been working on the idea of creating your dream home? If yes, it makes great sense
to explore different design ideas to come upon a vision for your home. To take a leaf out of this
plush GK II residence designed by Plum Design, a clear glimpse of an exuberant vision unfolds as
soon as you step inside this apartment.
When lead designer Sangeeta Sharma from Plum Design started off the work for this 4300
square feet apartment, she was guided by this core inspiration to bring about a spectrum of
natural elements in the ambience. The biggest challenge was to the create a simple, practical
and cozy home reflecting the beautiful layering of materials, textures and motifs found in
nature while working within the constraints of a builder apartment. This project exudes an
impressive flair when it comes to making a chic statement about experimenting with
contemporary interior design ideas.
This is a beautifully designed master bedroom which integrates the fine features of elegance
within the ambit of urban culture. The design reflects an intelligent use of the vast room space
and a great focus in coordinating the design essentials across all the furnishings and home
décor items placed in this room. The colour scheme of this room has a subtle presence of
earthy shades to create a picture of autumn as seen in the orange wall behind the bed and the
large wooden cabinet. All the furnishings in this room, including the bed, the sofa and the
tables, are custom made using lacquered wood to bring out a nice shade of autumn. The large
cabinet is made out of wood and copper which gives it a great antique finish. For the wall art, a
stunning floral sketch was specially designed to induce a scene of sleeping under a tree and
make it cozy space. There is a LED light wash from the bed back and wooden bed back panel
upholstered behind the bed to light up the artwork. The carpet was created from custom made
Felt and a lovely shade of mocha champagne colour was picked for the satin curtains to suit the
mood of the project. Another great addition to the furniture is the bed sofa, which has been
smartly designed with a tea trolley on wheels. There is abundant natural light in this bedroom
from the large window and the adjoining balcony. Also, the false ceiling and lampshades on
each side of the bed renders a very cozy touch to this suave bedroom.
The walk-in closet comprises of extremely spacious wardrobes and a dressing table built from
lacquered wood with stainless steel fixtures. A dash of coziness is added to this compact setting
with the Can Can Pendant light. The flooring has been kept simple with the choice of Grey
Williams Italian marbles.
The layout of the bathroom is also set with a similar theme of fittings and a spacious shower
cubicle. Lacquered wood has been used in the mirror and towel cabinet. The stone counter
near the wash basin is built in Italian marble and the cabinets are given a wooden finish.
This living room has been planned with an autumn green leaf colour scheme with custom made
sofa set and other furnishings. The leather trunk placed in the centre of the room is tailor made
and can also be used as a coffee table. While, the artwork on the wall and the lacquered wood
TV cabinet have been specially made to go with the flow of the design, the floor lights have
been purchased off the shelf.
The other bedroom in the house has an exciting display of custom texture on the walls with a
neat wooden board back design along the bedside area. Again, lacquered wood has been used
for the vibrant grey and yellow closets. Another interesting thing to note here are the made-to-
order chairs put together using leather and fabric. For the floors, a pattern of printed wood has
been used.
The dining area arrangement has a quite roomy setting with a comfortable dining table set and
a mini-bar right next to it. The wooden dining table has a textured top and groove pattern
chairs. Pattern of the chairs upholstery has been incorporated in the bar counter in embossed
brass. Lacquered wood with leatherite (synthetic leather) was used to construct the bar table
and the imported glass lights were hung from the top to render a cozy ambience. Statuario
Italian marble was used for the flooring.
The design scheme of the drawing room echoes with a feeling of class and fine taste. The
furniture was exclusively built out of wood polish and textured wood with a grand finishing.
Additionally, the set of black tables (center table and corner tables) were made from textured
wood and leather to bring in a delicate contrast in the overall setting.
For the materialization of this luxury project, an approximate amount of Rupees Two Crores
were spent on the interiors and soft finishes. A rough estimate of Rupees Four Thousand works
out as the Interior cost per square feet. The floor was supplied by the builder which covers a
huge area of 4300 square feet.
