As Managing Director of the Global Innovative Youth Conference (GIYC ‘16), I am delighted to invite you to be a participant of Asia-Pacific’s largest student-run conference for aspiring young entrepreneurs. Hosted in Brisbane, Australia, GIYC is a week-long entrepreneurial conference. We are immensely excited to invite you to attend our second GIYC, which runs from the 10th of January 2016 (Sunday) to the 16th of January 2016 (Saturday).

GIYC will bring over 100 worldwide students from a diverse range of backgrounds to Brisbane, who share the common interest of innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. These international delegates are from a range of prestigious universities and faculties whom we have successfully partnered with from our preceding event, including Oxford University, National University of Singapore, the University of Tokyo, Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics, Peking University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, National Central University of Taiwan and more.

Domestic students with an IT or business background will also be present, creating invaluable global networking opportunities, both professionally and socially. Students will also enjoy the fantastic Australian Summer, along with beaches, BBQs, petting a koala or even feed a kangaroo.

The team at GIYC will do our absolute best to ensure that you have a great time at our conference. We look forward to meeting you and establishing long-term friendships with like-minded young aspiring entrepreneurs!

IDEA NETWORKIDEA Network actively organizes both informative and networking events. It is the place for students aspiring to make a difference in the world. The membership base currently includes international students from more than 30 countries and has attracted a large number of domestic delegates to GIYC.

GIYCGIYC is affiliated with the IDEA Network: the largest and the best student society for entrepreneurship. It now has branches in Ecuador and Germany. GIYC is becoming Australasia’s premier student entrepreneurship conference for education and global networking. The theme ‘Think Globally, Act Now’ represents an emerging global entrepreneurship trend.

GIYC provides the perfect opportunity for businesses, educational, and government institutions to take you with the exceptional opportunity to meet other outstanding entrepreneurial students and achievers in a fun, professional learning environment that is also home to some of the world’s best beaches, animals and sunshine.

Welcome Reception and Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony will be held on 11 January 2016. Our previous speakers included representatives from UQ Business School, Brisbane City Council, River City Labs, Red Hat and was followed by Q&A.

Company Visits and WorkshopsThere will be allocated times for students to visit

different Brisbane companies. These visits will give delegates a brief look into local organization's working facilities , as well as greater insight into company’s culture and the Australian work environment. This is a great opportunity for future international recruitment and developing brand engagement on an international scale.

Workshops will be held throughout the hackathon competition where you will learn about start-ups and practice professional skills that will not only help you in our competition, but also contribute to your own entrepreneurial development.

Startup Contest & Mentoring

Towards the end of the week, we culminate to ‘Act Now!’ with a Hackathon Contest. The contest is an 18 -hour event that actively involves students to practice lean startup techniques and to create a viable business model. Prominent entrepreneurs including Ken Huxley will be teaching and mentoring students about lean startups, marketing strategies, financial planning, team building, legal advice and much more. Our mentors will challenge students to think abstractly and push their entrepreneurial skills to the next level.

Held over 3 days, it facilitates networking, efficient learning and circulation of ideas. Domestic students are invited to these events, allowing collaboration of different minds from various countries to create feasible ideas for launch. 12 teams of 6 will battle for the ultimate prize. The two finalist teams will pitch in front of venture capitalists and entrepreneurs for the chance to win the grand prize, yet to be revealed.

We value our gratitude to our sponsors, and thus we will host a one hour sponsor fair for our delegates to attend. This sponsor fair allows you to network with Brisbane and Australia’s most prominent companies and support networks for career development and entrepreneurship.

Networking &

Social Events There are three main networking events for students

and professionals to form lasting relationships outside of the conference. The first networking event will be held at the State Library of Queensland, where speakers and entrepreneurs are able to meet both domestic and international students. In addition, the Finalist Pitching session and Grand Finalist Pitching session also provide fantastic networking platforms. This is the chance to participate in the formation of brilliant ideas and to voice your opinions on the viability of ideas and business models. Students are provided with the opportunity to create industry connections with prominent entrepreneurs, investors, corporate executives and many more. After the Grand Finalist Pitching Session, there will be a formal sit down dinner for companies, entrepreneurs and students to further share ideas and continue on discussions.

Closing Forum &

Farewell DinnerThe Closing Forum and Farewell Dinner will be

held at the Gold Coast where you will experience the beach, Australian culture and nightlife.
