Giving Advice
Step 1 – Sad face
• What’s wrong?
• What’s the matter?
• What’s the problem?
• Are you ok?
Step 2 – The problem
• I see a girl on the subway every morning. She’s beautiful and I really want to go on a date with her, but I don’t know how to start talking to her. What should I do?
Step 3 – The advice
• You could buy her flowers. (possible op-tion)
• You should stand on her foot and then you can apologise and ask her to go on a date. (good idea)
• You have to / must get a haircut and change your fashion style. Then she will like you. (very important / 100% do it!)
Suggestions
• Why don’t you try and sit beside her?
• Have you tried smiling at her?
Step 4 – Good/bad advice
• Good – “That’s a great idea! I’ll try that. Thanks.”
• Bad – “Eh, I’m not sure. Let me think about that. Thanks.”
• Your boyfriend/girl-friend wants to get married and have kids. You like your boy/girl-friend, but aren’t sure what to do. Ask your friends for advice.
• You want to get a hair-cut because you are very bored with your hairstyle. You aren’t sure which style to try. Ask your friends for advice.
• You went to the casino last night and lost 500,000won. Now you have no money for food or books this month. Ask your friends for advice.
• Your cellphone is very old, so you need a new one. Ask your friends for advice about which model to buy.
• You borrowed your friend’s camera to use for a few days. However, you left it in on the subway this morning and now you have to explain to your friend what happened. You can’t afford to buy a new cam-era! Ask your friends for ad-vice.
