Purpose and History

Girls in Tech is a global non-profit (501c3) focused on influential women in technology and entrepreneurship. We concentrate on the promotion, growth, success and leadership of entrepreneurial and innovative women in the technology space.

The organization was established in 2007 by Adriana Gascoigne, with its flagship Chapter in San Francisco, where it’s now headquartered. It has since scaled to over 42 chapters globally, providing high-impact programming for women in the technology and startup spaces.

Where we are now

We’ve reached the classic “chasm” of start-ups….

We’re busting at the seams, with 15 new Chapters lined up to launch in the next two quarters (and requests daily for more), the organization of our Catalyst Conference next Spring, and serious interest in all of our programs from organizations around the world….

Great! It IS great…. But we need to grow our Global team fast in order to execute on this interest, and grow the organization at the pace it wants grow at.

We’re already making an impact on the careers and aspirations of thousands of women, and the continual demand for this is astounding.

Oh yeah….we’re incredibly biased, but we think this organization can grow well beyond the current chapter reach and programming and make a real impact on women in technology and entrepreneurship around the world….. That’s our passion and our goal.

Goals for the next year

!  Increase our Chapters around the world……With a particular focus on US, Africa, Latin and South America and Asia.

!  Launch our priority programming !  Global Classroom – We have seven years of research into this, all of the

platform needs in place with contracts signed, and our first course curriculum created, targeting girls in STEM fields.

!  Catalyst Conference – We have a location (Phoenix), a date (Spring 2015) and have confirmation and interest from some excellent women (we can’t say who just yet, but trust us, they’re fantastic).

!  GIT U – We want to launch our GIT U program in 10 universities around the globe in Fall 2015.

!  GITHacks – We hope to implement several on-the-ground hackathons in the next year, as well as one global, online hackathon.

!  Grow our Global team……We’d like to have 5 full time staff by the end of 2015.

!  Fundraise aggressively……We’re currently speaking with a lot of people about sponsoring our organization and its programming, as well as researching and applying for relevant grants…. BUT THESE TAKE TIME. Therefore….
