GIRL SCOUTS BADGES DAISY BROWNIE Trail Adventure 1.5 hours $100 for up to 10 girl scouts, $5/scout over 10 In this fun adventure Daisies will be introduced to the Greenway trail map and work on selecting a hiking adventure that is right for the group. Once we’ve chosen our adventure we will prepare a small trail snack and make sure we have everything we need. We will learn all about the Leave No Trace principals and why they are so important before heading out on a hike to talk about some of the different natural resources we have here at the Greenway and how we can help protect them! Fire safety and how to build a campfire will be covered and the girls will have an opportunity to light their own fire using a flint striker. Will cover all components of the Eco Friend Badge. 1. Come out to the Anne Springs Close Greenway to learn about hiking, picking a trail, packing a bag and then head out on the trails for a short hike! The Greenway is a 2,100 acre nature preserve with several lakes and many great hiking trails where girls can be on the lookout for hawks, snakes, frogs and many other exciting wildlife friends. Will cover all components of the Hiker Badge.

Outdoor Art Creator Badge2 hours $120 for up to 10 girl scouts, $8/scout over 10

With this badge we will get to explore all the beauty found in the outdoors! We will start with a short hike to get inspired by nature and then create our own nature inspired art. Then it’s time to get moving again with some fun activities and taking some snaps. We will end by creating some beautiful fairy houses using only things we can find in nature.

Get ready for a few hours of adventure at the Anne Springs Close Greenway! We will start by playing some outdoor games and then learn some outdoor skills (can anybody say ‘sleeping bag race’!). Then prepare to get wet as we explore in our creek looking for all sorts of critters. Will cover all the components of the Outdoor Adventure badge, except one.

Senses Badge1.5 hours $100 for up to 10 girl scouts, $5/scout over 10

Come out to the Anne Springs Close Greenway to explore your five senses in nature.  How rough is a tree’s bark, what does that plant smell like, what birds do we hear? Get the most out of your hike by using all your senses. We will explore the Anne Springs Close Greenway using taste, touch, smell, hearing, and sight, giving ourselves the greatest experience possible. Will cover all components of the Senses Brownie Investigation Badge.

Outdoor Art Explorer Badge2 hours $120 for up to 10 girl scouts, $8/scout over 10

Join us at the Anne Springs Close Greenway for a fun filled morning of creation as explore, create and design different kinds of art. Scouts will try new mediums for creating art and leave with several new projects and ideas. A cell phone with camera is recommended for this program as we explore nature photography and light. Will cover all components of the Outdoor Art Explorer Badge.

Gardener2 hours $130 for up to 10 girl scouts, $10/scout over 10

Did you know the Greenway is home to a Plant-A-Row Garden, where all the produce grown is donated to a local good bank? For the gardener badge we will visit this lovely outdoor garden and learn about all the different vegetables and flowers that are grown here. Girl Scouts will also assist with some planting in the garden before working on making their own mini Zen garden or terrarium. We will wrap up with putting together an experiment that girls can take home to watch the results of.

Camper2.5 hours $160 for up to 10 girl scouts, $15/scout over 10

Join us at our beautiful Graham Cabin campsite to start your camping adventure! We will talk about the logistics of setting up a campsite including how to leave no trace, how to pitch tents and then getting a chance to practice our fire starting technique. Once we have a good fire going we will put together our unique tinfoil meals and roast them on the fire. We will wrap the evening up with a short night hike or just by enjoying s’mores around the fire.

Please Note: Camping in not a requirement of this badge. However, we can reserve the campsite and provide a staff member to stay over with your group should you want to camp. The cost for this is an additional $100. If your troop does not need a staff member and just needs to reserve the campsite it is $5/person.

Animal Habitats2 hours $120 for up to 10 girl scouts, $8/scout over 10

Join us as we explore the variety of animal habitats that can be found on the Greenway. We will visit creek, pine stands, mixed hardwood forests and our lake and talk about what composes these different habitats, what might live there, and their similarities and differences to habitats around the world. We will also have a chance to meet some of our animal ambassadors who can be found out on the Greenway. We will wrap up our adventure by collecting some material to build a bug hotel to take home. All Girl Scouts will also leave with a pack of native wildflower seeds to start their very own backyard habitat.

Trees2.5 hours $120 for up to 10 girl scouts, $8/scout over 10

Join us at the Anne Springs Close Greenway for a fun filled Come out to the Anne Springs Close Greenway to explore nature while learning about native trees. Girls will learn to identify trees, participate in crafts, hiking explorations, games and being close to nature! We will cover all components of the Tree Badge except one.

Paddling2 hours $125 for up to 5 girl scouts, $20/scout over 5

Join us at the Anne Springs Close Greenway for an evening of water sports. Girls will explore different paddling sports and learn paddling safety. Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) will be worn at all times during this program as girls practice on kayaks, stand-up paddle boards or canoes in our 28-acre Lake Haigler. Prepare to get wet and have fun! Due to the safety requirements of this program, the number of participants will be less than most programs. Will cover all of the components of the Paddling Badge.

Night Owl2.5 hours $160 for up to 10 girl scouts, $15/scout over 10

Come out to the Anne Springs Close Greenway to explore nature after dark.  We will study animal adaptations and constellations, head into the woods in the dark of night and enjoy hot cocoa and s’mores around the fire. Will cover all components of the Night Owl Badge except one.

Trailblazing2.5 hours $120 for up to 10 girl scouts, $10/scout over 10

For this badge your troop will start by gathering together and participating in some teambuilding challenges with our trained Greenway facilitator. After we’ve warmed up our teambuilding skills we will put them to the test to complete a basic orienteering challenge. Lastly we will prepare a delicious trail snack, select our adventure and then hit the trail for a nice hike!

Archery2.5 hours $160 for up to 10 girl scouts, $15/scout over 10

Come out to the Anne Springs Close Greenway to take aim learning some new skills! Girls will be trained in archery range safety, basic form, and proper execution. Girls will have time to practice their new skills while creating challenges for their fellow participants.
