3.2.4 Waveform analyzing
It can read the waveform, saved in the device, and analyze it.
Indicated waveform also can be saved in file.
(1) Waveform list
The maximum number of fault record that can be saved in GIPAM-10 is 4. If you click ‘waveform
list’ button, the waveform list, saved in the device, will be uploaded and arranged in chronological
order on the combo box and the user may select it.
(2) Upload
Click ‘upload’ button and you can upload and analyze the waveform from the device which you
selected the time on the left side of the combo box.
Refer
When uploading the waveform, the time of waveform which you selected on the combo box and
the time when actually waveform was uploaded may be different and also there may be no data
of the selected waveform. The reason is that the waveform list and the actual list of the device
do not match, so you need to click the waveform list button again and renew the waveform list
before using.

(3) COMTRADE
You can save the waveform into COMTRADE type and can analyze by using the ComtradeAnaly-
sis2 program.
[Save] : Saves the waveform by using COMTRADE standard.
Refer
COMTRADE is a standard format for excessive data in the power system. The standard is defined
in IEC 60255-24, and there is no amplification about COMTRADE on this manual so refer to
standard document for details.
There are 4 types of files in COMTRADE file.
‘*.cfg’ : It is setting and constructing file of ASCII text file. (essential)
‘*.dat’ : Data file which saves the value of record sample. (essential)
‘*.hdf’ : Saves the additional information which the user types in text. (selective)
‘*.inf’ : Can save the specific additional information which is selected by the manufac-
turer. (selective)
These are the files, and on this program, ‘*.cfg’, ‘*.hdr’, ‘*.dat’ files are supported.
When there is a screen to save the COMTRADE file, enter the application.

(4) Waveform information
It includes the time when waveform was saved, number of cycle, pre cycle, and the sampling number
of saved waveform.
(5) Waveform view
You can enlarge and reduce the waveform or analyze by moving the X axis in the waveform graph.
X axis indicates the total number of Sample(the number of Cycle X Sample number per Cycle), and
Y axis is consisted of 3 areas, which indicates the DSP(PT, CT) value of module and an area indicating
DI/DO value, and AI/AO data.
To view and hide of each data (channel) can be selected with the checkbox in the exemplum.
If you click ‘confirm’ button after inputting the application, it will be saved in the same folder(directory),
‘*.cfg’, same as you named the file.
Select the ‘After saving, open with ComtradeAnalysis2’ check box and you’ll be able to analyze by
loading the Comtrade file which is saved in the analyzing program after saving the Comtrade file.
[Analyze] : You may analyze the waveform by using ContradeAnalysis2 program
At this time, temporarily save the Comtrade file, and automatically connect the saved file to be loaded
by ContradeAnalysis2.exe program.

You may move X axis by dragging the X axis with the mouse or use scroll bar.
- DSP(PT, CT of module) enlargement/reduction
DSP data indicates PT(voltage), CT(current) value on the same area(axis). So, when there is big
difference between voltage and current value, it may be hard to get the data when the value is
small as following picture.
At this time, click the area which indicates the DPS data with the mouse(the area will be indicated
with dotted line) and then can move, enlarge, reduce the Y axis of DSP area.
