Following on the success of the inaugural
exhibition featuring Japanese Cultures
and Creativity held in October 2016, a
new Exhibition entitled ‘Creative Travel
to Japan 2017’, will be held at UNESCO
Headquarters in Paris between 4th-8th
September 2017. This year's exhibition
will portray travel to Japan based around
the theme of ‘Inheriting Traditions and
Creating a New Culture’. It will be shown
through the eyes of photographers,
film-makers and exponents of traditional
crafts and cultures. The project will also
feature Japanese award-winning
animation films which are
world-renowned examples of innovation
and the diversity of artistic expression.
The quality of Japan’s animation films is famed throughout the world. Shots from the films will be displayed alongside photographs of the
actual locations. These will include examples both of Japan’s beautiful scenery and also of ordinary daily life in rural areas.
‘A Silent Voice’ (September 2016), selected in the official competition at the Annecy international Animation Film Festival (June 12 to 17), this film finely encompasses sensitive topics such as school bullying and disability.
