Baptized at this morning’s service is Mavis Kay Van Beek, daughter of Kyle and Karen Van Beek. Mavis was born on August 14, 2018. We offer our congratulations and pray for God’s richest blessings upon Mavis, our newest member of our St. Paul Lutheran family. Her sponsors are Dale and Suzy Jacobsma.

Special Congregational Meeting: The Church Council of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sheldon, Iowa, has called for a Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, December 9 at 10:15 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Three questions will be brought to the floor for votes: 1. A vote will be held on whether or not to give the Church Council authority to sell the 1422 E. 9th Street property with adjusted property lines; 2. A vote will be held on whether or not to proceed with purchasing and installing a security system contingent on full funding; 3. A vote will be held on whether to approve the replacement of carpeting, flooring, and window treatments contingent on full funding.

Two dates have been scheduled for discussion forums regarding the Special Congregational Meeting: Sunday, November 25 and December 2 at 4:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

NOTICE: The Secretaries’ Office hours on Wednesday, November 21, will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. and CLOSED on November 22 and 23. The following week the office hours: November 28 and 29, will be 9:30-3:30 p.m.

The WAM Committee is asking for volunteers to help with decorating the church on December 2.

The Sunday School Christmas Program is December 16, during the 9:00 a.m. Worship. Practices will be on December 2 and 9 during the Sunday School time. Please let Lori Brown know if your student(s) plan to participate.

The Thanksgiving Offering will go to the general fund. The Christmas Eve Offering will go to: $100 Sheldon Unity Meal, $1,000 Camp Committee (Camperships), and the balance will go to the general fund. The New Year’s Eve Offering will go to the general fund.

Volunteers needed to help put Care Packages together for St. Paul college students. If you would like to help by funding, baking, or sending out the Care Packages, please contact the church office (324-3049).

Worship PowerPoint Set-up: One of the tasks in preparation for Sunday worship is creating the series of slides for the screen. Would anyone be willing to do this, perhaps 2 or 3 people taking turns? The templates are there, songs ready for ‘copy & paste’, mostly updating specific readings, page #s, etc. Talk to Pastor Craig to help.

Annual Report Deadline: All reports for the annual report are due in the church office NO LATER than Thursday, December 27, 2018! Please make sure to get your report in on time.

St. Paul is looking for members of our congregation to sponsor the Augustana Christmas Vespers concert, a recording of a live performance at the Sioux Falls Lutheran University, and will be broadcast on KIWA radio.

St. Paul has adopted three families this Christmas Season through the Upper Des Moines Opportunities Adopt-A-Family program. There will be boxes labeled for each # family. Family # 8 - Mother and 1 child, Female age 19 (queen size comforter, fuzzy socks, hoodies, pant size 2, shirt size xs-s, shoe size 9) and Female age 11 months (pant size 18-24 months, shirt size 18-24 months, shoe size 5, stand-behind walker, books). Family # 10 - Mother and 1 child, Female age 41 (blanket, candles) and Male age 4 (pant size 3T-4T, shirt size 4, shoe size 8 or 9, monster trucks, Spiderman). Family # 17 - Female child, Female age 3 (pant size 5T-6T, shirt size 5T-6T, Frozen themed items, Mickey Mouse items). The deadline for items is Wednesday, December 12.

The sign-up charts for 2019 Radio Broadcast, Coffee Fellowship, and Flowers on the Altar are located in the narthex. Sign up now for those special dates.

Women’s Coats: There are some women’s coats hanging in the northeast entrance, please claim. If they have not been claimed in a month they will be donated to the Village Treasure Chest.

A suggestion box is located in the back of the sanctuary for suggestions and ideas for the Church Council.

St. Paul has an ongoing mission started by our youth to support Lensley Raymond from Simonette, Haiti. This sponsorship will help with his school expenses each year. If you would like to make a donation towards Lensley’s school tuition through your offering, there is a dedicated fund set up (Touch of Hope Haiti).

The Sheldon Area Unity Meal will serve their FREE meal on Monday, November 19 at 6:00 p.m. at Living Water Community Church. There will be cookie decorating for kids at 5:00 p.m.

Hope Haven International Ministries presents “Rejoice!” on Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the BJ Haan Auditorium in Sioux Center. Tickets are $15 at American State Bank, Sioux Center, and Iowa State Bank, Orange City. For more information, please visit www.hopehaven.org.

Poinsettias Poinsettias will be purchased by the Worship, Arts, and Music Committee. If you would like to contribute towards the purchase of Poinsettias, please fill out this form and drop it in the offering plate or leave it in the church office by Sunday, December 9.
