Impact of the partnership(s) in the region What’s in it for your university? • Improving visibility of your institution: local, regional, (inter)national

level • Recruiting highly qualified third country students and researchers • Create or reinforce a strong cooperation network with EU and TC

partners • Facilitate the exchange of good practices and innovation processes • Secure financial support for your inter-university mobility activities

Page 16: Ghent University · 1987= start of Erasmus • In Europe: Erasmus Bologna reforms (Ma/Ba/Phd; ECTS….) • In Ghent : administrative organisation: need to have a central international

Impact of the partnership(s) in the region

• Create synergy with other HEIs, enterprises, Chambers of Commerce, local authorities, Erasmus Mundus Assocciation… to increase impact

• Join forces to provide a more general and bigger picture on the impact in the relevant region;

• Stimulate the development of multi-lateral initiatives • Can serve as an opportunity to make use of the network of peers • Collaborative and joint programmes development • Cross participation to European networks and programmes (H2020,

Erasmus +, T.I.M.E.…) and Chinese networks and programmes (Campus Asia, CSC…)

Page 17: Ghent University · 1987= start of Erasmus • In Europe: Erasmus Bologna reforms (Ma/Ba/Phd; ECTS….) • In Ghent : administrative organisation: need to have a central international

Examples: • 5 Consortia meeting of the Call 35/08 – 2009: China Lot 14 • Joint Workshop on Academic Recognition and Credit Transfer (Nov. 2014) in Cambodia •Other projects : Tuning, EGRACONS, Heion,…

→ testimonials → impact/benefits of mobility on employability → workshops : expertise on specific matters e.g. Tuning – associate in Lotus – talked about credit transfer in general & China Tuning project during the 5 Consortia meeting in Beijing.

Sustainability

Outputs can be maintained after the project has ended: • Address sustainability at 3 levels: ‣ financially (staff, fees or other revenues, possibly from industry etc.) ‣ institutionally (accreditation, official approval within university etc.) ‣ at policy level (impact on legislation, procedures etc.)

• Ensure that a sufficient number of staff is trained and that the training is sufficiently long to enable them to have an impact.

Sustainability: Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Erasmus +

Key Action 1 – Individual mobility - Inter-Institutional agreements with partner universities from the
