Test Analysis IPU CET BBA 2014

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) conducted Common Entrance Test for Bachelor of Business Administration (CET-BBA) on May 24, 2014. The entrance exam is conducted every year for entry into the prestigious university which is making its name for management courses for around 7500 seats. The pattern of the exam was similar to that of last year. The overall level of the exam was moderate. There were a total of 150 questions and it was supposed to be completed in 150 minutes only. Each question carried 4 marks and for each wrong answer, there was a penalty of -1 mark.

Management and Communication Skills

This section had questions on management aptitude to evaluate the personality traits of aspirants, questions on economics from the topic demand & supply, and few questions on globalization & liberalization. The level of this section can be rated as moderate wherein, an attempt of around 28-32 questions can be considered a good attempt.

Language Comprehension

This section had major questions in reading comprehension and vocabulary. There was 1 reading comprehension passage and 7-8 questions were asked from that. These questions were based on inference and vocabulary and were a little difficult. There were questions spot the error (3-4 questions), jumbled sentences (4-5 questions) and phrase replacement (2-3 questions). These questions were easy. The vocabulary section had questions 5-6 questions of antonyms, 5-6 fill-in-the-blanks questions and 5-6 questions of synonyms. Students could have attempted around 24-28 questions in this section.

Logical Reasoning

This section of the paper was rated as easy to moderate by the students. The questions in this

section came from topics like odd one out, blood relations, syllogisms, analogy, direction test arrangement, calendars, cubes & dice, etc. Students’ feedback suggests that an attempt of 25-30 questions in this section is considered a decent attempt.

General Awareness

This section had most of the questions which are static in nature. Questions came from topics like Books & Authors, Business & Economics, Sports & Awards, Geography, History and Polity. The level of this section can be rated as moderate as there were few tricky questions also. Students attempting 24-28 questions could be considered a fair attempt.

Overall Cutoff

Overall, if a student has been able to attempt 110- 125 questions and is able to score something more than 440, can expect to get a call for the counselling in the university.
