Introduction to GGII HEP Project

• Success story of a 184 GG I Project.

� Gilgel Gibe 184 mW project is a success story to EEPCO and the Government of Ethiopia.

� The Project is completed triggering a development of the Gilgel Gibe II Hydroelectric Power Project.

• Objective of the 420 MW GGII Project.

� To meet the energy and capacity that the country needs.



• Scope & Executing Agency

� Scope: Design, Procure & Construction of the plant and Commissioning and Operational handover of the plant.

� Owner: Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo).

� a state owned power utility company,

� established to engage in the business of generation, transmission, distribution and sales of electric energy,



� The responsible entity for the implementation of the Gilgel Gibe II Hydroelectric Project.

� Main Contractor: Salini Costruttori S.p.A of Italy, which engages worldwide known specialists as sub contractor for Tunnel Boring & Related Works, E & M works andHSS works.

� Consulting Firm (Employer’s Representative): ELC Electroconsult S.p.A of Italy.
