Files / Folders Management
• Folders are used to organize the files on the disk
•Folders are organized in a hierarchy (tree) with a
Root folder and sub-folders
• Files contain either the software instructions
(Program Files) or the information created while
using an application program (Data Files)

File Extensions / File Types
•Filenames have extensions (typically last three characters) that indicate the nature of the file
For e.g.: .exe => Executable (Program) file
.doc => MS Word document
.xls => MS Excel spreadsheet
.txt => Notepad (Text) document
.jpg, bmp => Bitmap, Image file
