Getting started with Quicken Thank you for choosing Quicken This guide helps you get started with Quicken as quickly as possible. You’ll find out how to: • Set up your Intuit ID • Use the Home tab • Set up your first account • Accept your transactions • Update your accounts • Take a tour of Quicken • Categorize your transactions • Get more out of Quicken • Get help when you need it Set up your Intuit ID Set up your Intuit ID and complete your registration to access all the benefits of Quicken Canada Connected Services. These include downloading your bank transactions into Quicken, receiving e-mail and text alerts, getting notified in-product when a free update is available, and accessing Quicken Support & Quicken Live Community If you already use other Intuit products, like TurboTax or QuickBooks, you may already have an Intuit ID. 1. Fill in the information to set up your Intuit ID and complete your registration. 2. If you already have an Intuit ID, click to sign in and complete your registration.

SetupyourIntuitIDandcompleteyourregistrationtoaccessallthebenefitsofQuickenCanadaConnectedServices.TheseincludedownloadingyourbanktransactionsintoQuicken,receivinge-mailandtextalerts,gettingnotifiedin-productwhenafreeupdateisavailable,andaccessingQuickenSupport&QuickenLiveCommunity
IfyoualreadyuseotherIntuitproducts,likeTurboTaxorQuickBooks,youmayalreadyhaveanIntuitID.
1. FillintheinformationtosetupyourIntuitIDandcompleteyourregistration.

Quickenassignscategoriestoyourtransactionswhenitdownloadsthemfromyourbank.Forexample,ifyouusedyourbankcardatSobey’s,QuickenknowsthatSobey’sisagrocerystoreanditautomaticallyassignsthecategoryFood & Dining:Groceriestothetransaction.
Inmostcases,Quickencanaccuratelyguessthecategory.Insomecases,however,itwon’trecognizethetransactionthefirsttimeitseesit—forexample,yourrentcheque.Quickenalsomightassignacategorytoatransactionthatyoudon’twant—forexample,duringthattriptoSobey’syoumayhaveboughtpetfood,whichyouwanttotrackunderthecategoryPets:Pet Food & SuppliesinsteadofFood & Dining:Groceries.Naturally,you’llwanttoassignthecorrectcategoriestoyourtransactions.Here’show…
Use the spending tab to categorize transactions
ThestepsbelowusetheSpendingtabtoassignacategorytoatransaction.TheprocessisidenticalifyouuseaQuickenaccountregister.However,akeyadvantageofusingtheSpendingtabisthatitalertsyouifyouhaveanyuncategorizedtransactions.
1. ClicktheSpendingtab.TheSpendingtabshowsyouthetransactionsfromyourspendingaccounts.Italsohasacoolpiechartthatshowsyouwhereyourmoneyisgoing.
2. Clickthetransactionthatyouwanttochangethecategoryfor.
