Course Navigation tools
• Navigation– shows the navigation to all areas and courses within Moodle that you have access to
• Activities – click to get a list of Assignments, Forums, Glossaries or Resources
• Search forums – useful for searching for key words in conversations

Course Information Blocks
• Calendar– shows when events and webinar sessions and virtual café chat room are occurring
• Settings – shows your profile settings and your grades for submitted assignments
• Online Users– useful for seeing who is online at the time for connecting with people in real time.

Orientation• Click on the Book icon or title
to see the Table of Contents
• Navigate through the pages/sections of the book

Opening the Books
• Click on the Book icon or name to open it
• When the book is open in the settings panel you have the option of printing the book or the chapter
• When the book is open there is a Table of contents to allow you to see all of the chapters or sections in the book

Navigating Sequenced Web Pages
• Click the arrow keys to navigate the pages of the Book chapters

Participating in Discussion Forums
• Click the Discussion icon or its title to participate in the forum.
• Click on the topic to open and read
• When you come to the discussion forum it will show you how many replies have been made since you were last there

Answering a discussion topic post• When the topic is open, click
on reply to make a post
• Write a reply to the post in this area
• Subscribe to the forum here to receive notifications of new
conversations
• You are able to add attachments to your post here.
• Then click on “Post to Forum”

Creating a discussion topic
• Click on Help Desk & FAQ in the Communications course section
• Click on Add a new discussion topic
• Give your topic a subject, then write your question in the message section. If you have taken a screenshot to show the issue you are having then attach it to your post via the attachment area
• When finished click on Post to Forum

Creating a Classroom Reflective blog post
• Click the Classroom Reflective Blog link
• Here you can either make a new post or access all of your posts and save a copy of your participation
• Click the New Blog Post button to make a post

• Give your blog post a title
• Write your reflective blog post in the message area
• Give your post some tags to make it easy for people to search for blog posts using keywords
• Choose if you want to allow classmates to comment on your post• Finish by clicking Add blog post
• Click the New Blog Post button to make a post
• Your post appears – notice you can add a comment by
clicking on it if the author has allowed this action.

Joining E-Ways Virtual Cafe
• Click the E-Ways Virtual Cafe link in the Communication Course Section
• This is a real time live text chat room• It will tell you when it is open and you can enter
• You can also view past chat transcribes.

Downloading from Resource Library• Click the General Resources link in the Resource Library Course Section
• Click the link of the file you wish to access in the resource file Section
• Save the file to your PC or usb drive

Uploading to the Project Room
• Click the link of the assignment you wish to upload in the Project Room Course Section
• Click on Add Submission
• Click on Add to navigate to your completed assignment and add to
this area.• Alternatively you may prefer to open
to drag & drop your assignment file into the box area.
• When the appears in the work area click on save changes

Uploading to the Project Room• If you clicked on Add in the previous
step, a file picker box will appear• Make sure that Upload a file is
selected• Then click browse, locate the file on
your PC• Then click on the Upload file button• Your file will then populate the file
area – click on Save Changes
• Your page will then refresh and your assessment will show as submitted
