Attendance

Punctuality and regular attendance are important because:– they ensure your child feels included and

part of the class– they ensure your child engages with the

class teaching and learning program

Good idea for children to arrive before 9.00am to start to connect with other children

Please bring notes to the class teacher regarding reason for absences

Late arrivals/early departures requires note from office

Recess & Lunch

Labelled Lunch boxes keep your child’s food hygienic and fresher throughout the day

Healthy food choices – it is part of school curriculum requirements for teachers to discuss good nutrition and types of food that children bring to school

CRUNCH ‘N’ SIP

Teachers allow time in the morning session for the students to ‘top up’ with some fruit and vegetables before the recess break. If possible, please pack some fruit or vegetables, which are easy for your child to eat, in a small container. Some ideas to consider are carrot sticks, cucumber slices, celery sticks, pieces of apple, sultanas, orange slices. We hope to promote healthy eating habits and ensure our children are fit to learn and participate at school.• Time for “Crunch & Sip” can vary from class to

class

Homework

The most important support parents can give is spending time talking with their child and reading to them

Some formal homework activities will be sent home, but it is not to be a stressful time!

What is the P&C?

is an organisation that exists in almost every public school in NSW.

brings the school and the community into close cooperation.

acts as a channel for the communication, discussion and resolution of issues relating to the school and to educational matters.

is important to the school and is involved in lots of activities and functions throughout the year.

The P&C:

Dee Why Public School Parents and Citizens Association Meetings are held at 7.30pm on 1st Wednesday of

the month in the Library during school term.

It is here that we make decisions about funding priorities, activities and operations for the year.

The School Principal gives an update on school matters that concern the school community.

Visitors and new members are always welcome.

What we DoThe P&C throughout the year coordinate many fundraising activities including: Family Picnic Day Ice Blocks, Sushi Days, Apple Slinky Days, End of Term Discos, Mother's Day and Father's Day Stalls, Easter Raffle, and Christmas Carols and Dee Why Public School

International Carnivale.

The P&C co-ordinates and operates the P&C School Uniform Shop and the P&C School Canteen.

All of these fundraising events directly benefit the school and its students (your Children).

Dee Why Public School Parents and Citizens Association

Where does the money raised go?The P&C has an annual financial commitment to the school which includes supporting literacy enrichment, Year 6 end of year expenses, merit cards and the end of year Presentation Day.

The P&C continue to financially support the Library with annual donations used towards the purchasing of new reading materials and non-fiction resources, for the students (our children).

The P&C have also contributed to the school monies for the purchase of Classroom Smart-boards, a New Sound System and new computers in the library.

We also set aside monies to aide in ongoing projects around the school, including funds for school playground climbing equipment.

Dee Why Public School Parents and Citizens Association

Can you help?New members to the P&C are always welcome and encouraged. We hope to attract a cross-section of the school community, with the idea that different people are able to contribute in different ways.

Please know that P&C Members are not expected to turn up to every meeting nor assist with every activity.

Actively participating in the P&C is great for meeting other parents, finding out what's going on within the school and providing input into your child's future at Dee Why Public School.

Your support would be greatly appreciated!

If you are interested in joining the P&C or just assisting with any of our events you are welcome to come along to a meeting – the dates are advertised in the weekly school newsletter, or you can contact the Secretary or President with any enquiries.
