Group Members: Michelle Babb and Nate Vorapharuek, period 6 Assignment: Gettier case example A mother is worried that her son has not been attending some of his classes at school. In order to either prove or disprove of this theory, the mother drives to school and waits in her vehicle near the school’s entry and exit gates. She hopes that she will at least be able to catch her son leave the school gates if he attempts to leave the campus. However, instead of catching her son leaving school grounds, the mother sees her son, through her car window, walk from the cafeteria to his least-favorite class. The mother, convinced that if her son were to leave he’d have tried so already, sits up and drives back home. Once at home, the mother sits and waits for her children to return from school. When her children return, the mother discovers that her daughter, the twin sister of the son she believed was cutting classes, had her hair cut short because of a Chemistry explosion in one of her classes. As a result, from the side or from the back, the girl looked exactly like her twin brother and was, in fact, the child the mother had seen walking into the classroom after lunch. After the mother calls the attendance office to either confirm or deny her previous beliefs, the mother finds out that her son had, in fact, been at school the entire day.
