The Coordinator serves as a liaison to services in our community and is available to meet with community members at the GEARS Community Center, 70 South Poplar Street. The Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown provides supplemental food to individuals, families, and seniors with fixed incomes. It is conveniently located at 206 S. Market Street and open on Wednesday and Saturdays. Please call the Community Cupboard at 361.8149 (leave a message) for additional information. Volunteers and donations are needed and are welcomed from the community.

Meals on Wheels of Elizabethtown delivers one hot and one cold meal daily (Monday through Friday except holidays) to seniors and qualifying individuals in need of short-term help. For more information, contact 367.8528.

Clothing Bank of Elizabethtown is open to the community on the second Saturday of each month from 9-10 am at the GEARS Community Center, 70 South Poplar Street.

SummerYouthProgramMake a friend

SummerPlaygroundProgram This Summer, your child can have fun with other kids right in your own neighborhood park or elementary school. Program leaders will lead supervised, quality recreation activities. Kids will learn social and physical skills through recreation activities, but it’s more than fun and games. This program promotes good citizenship among children, and the fun activities keep kids active and entertained.

Who: Children ages 6-14

What: Seven weeks of organized FUN!

When: Mon-Thu, June 13-July 28 (no July 4) 9 am-12 noon

Where: Elizabethtown Community Park Rheems Elementary School E-town BIC Church

* Your choice of site! Registered participants are welcomed and encouraged to attend any and all sites.

Fee: $45/child for the entire Summer!!

Part-TimeFee: $4/day/child Corporate and personal scholarships are available for children unable to afford fees. Please check with the GEARS Office.

Note To Parents: The Summer Playground Program is designed to provide “drop-in” activities for children and is not a substitute for childcare. Attendance is not mandatory nor enforced. Be sure to inform your child of your expectations regarding attendance.

Show your friends the cool ornament that you will make from zinc and hydrochloric acid. You will also play detective and catch the person who stole chemicals from the lab. Art-rageousLearn how to draw your favorite cartoon characters, or make up your own cartoon characters! Then apply these characters to your own comic strip! At the end of this camp you will understand the basics of pencil rendering. Shading, detail and shapes will also be discussed. Supplies for this class are included in the fee. CSIE-townDo you like to solve mysteries? Do you like solving puzzles? Join us for CSI E-town forensics camp. We will use REAL forensic techniques to solve mysteries. We will investigate fingerprints, unknown white powders, unknown ink samples and mystery liquids. Each day we will learn a new forensic technique and then use it to solve a crime. ArtAdventureCampYoung artists will spend each morning of this art camp exploring Artists past and present while designing unique projects each day. BuddingBookIllustrator!Illustration Class: Students will learn the different rendering pencils to use when drawing as well as the different techniques to use while applying pencil shading to their drawing. This camp provides a fun atmosphere where campers may participate in socialization skills and recreational activities. Activities include games, special appearances, visits to local recreation sites and fun learning!

Camp Lady Bug started the Summer of 1968 as a result of a group of parents who wanted a summer activity that would keep their children with special needs in a routine that kept their minds and bodies active. GEARS began administrating the Camp in 2002.

[email protected] The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center is an activity center for the well-elderly area residents over 60 years old located in the GEARS Community Center. The Center has a large service area that includes the communities of Elizabethtown, Bainbridge, Maytown, Mount Joy, Salunga, Landisville, Mastersonville and Manheim. Door-to-door transportation is available for participants, as needed. The Senior Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-3 pm and Friday evening from 5-11 pm. Call the center for a complete list of daily activities or additional information.

Confirmations/ReceiptsOnce you sign up it is your responsibility to attend the activity. No confirmations or receipts will be sent unless you wish to provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

FeeStructureAll fees listed in this brochure are for members of the Elizabethtown Borough, Mount Joy Township and West Donegal Township. Non-members (NM) will be charged an additional fee.

Refunds/TransfersGEARS strives to offer you high quality recreation programs. We are confident that you will like these programs - so confident that we will ensure our promises to provide that high quality. GEARS guarantees that you will be satisfied with our recreation programs. If not satisfied, tell us and we will arrange for you to do one of the following: 1} Repeat the class at no charge. 2} Receive full credit that can be applied to another program. 3} Receive a full refund. If you are not satisfied, we kindly request your input in the form of suggestions, comments, ideas or changes for improvement. Refund applications may be acquired by calling or writing the GEARS Office. To obtain a full refund, requests must be made in writing on the provided application within 10 business days after the last class date. (Exceptions: sports leagues, tournaments and bus trips). For refund requests due to reasons other than dissatisfaction, illness/injury or an emergency, a small processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
