The Huber has a group who organized specifically to help raise money for the Huber wall fund and this group organized the Dr. Allen Hilbert reception to kick off the campaign! Dr. Hilbert has been a driving force for the Huber’s con-tinued progress since sav-ing it from destruction in 1999 and was the honoree for the wall campaign. His family was present to meet

friends who have generously donated financial support that day and ever since. The wall is complete and the campaign has raised $125,800 of the final total amount of $134,800 for the restoration. Also available for wall support are T-shirts, bricks for the Opera Lane sidewalk in the front, and balcony seats, with all proceeds going to the wall fund. Stop in to the Huber office to sponsor a brick or balcony seat or to purchase a T-shirt. Remember, your do-nations are tax deductible, since the Huber is non-profit 501(c)3.

On Saturday, November 24, the Huber will be hosting a revival of its annual “Festival of Wreaths” from noon to 6:00pm. This event will be brimmed with vendors, food, and entertainment, with a contest for the best decorated wreaths. Local talent will provide on-stage entertainment as you browse the wreaths and vote for your favorites. Admission will be $3 per person (children under 12 are free). The Holiday Hot Spot will also be set up in the community rooms and lobbies for your shopping pleasure. Vendors will be ready to assist you with your gift list and include: Lu-laRoe, Steeped Tea, DH Goldsmith, Color Street, Pure Romance, Usbourne Books, Scentsy, Dis-covery Toys, and others. Hot sandwiches and chips will be sold in the concessions stand along with our other offerings. Entry forms for the wreaths and additional information about the day can be found on the Huber website. Email [email protected], call the Huber at 419-542-9553, or stop in at the Huber office.

A different time is evoked in this marvelously theatrical and winning show, a live broadcast of the Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade from the Hotel Astor’s Algonquin Room on December 21, 1942. The spirit of that bygone era when the world was at war and pop music meant “Strike Up the Band” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” (both are in this show) is accurately captured as the harassed producer copes with a drunk lead singer, the delivery boy who wants a chance in front of the mike, the second banana who dreams of singing a ballad, and the trumpet-playing sound effects man who chooses a fighter plane over Glenn Miller. November 30 & December 1 - Dinner 6:30, Show 7:30; December 2 - Show only 2:30

“Huber Canteen” to be presented Feb-ruary 9. 2019. One performance only. See poster for singing, dancing, and skit acts. For additional information, contact Hope Owens at 419-890-5917 or email [email protected].
