Interactive Exercises Dizionario Oxford StudyQueste attività interattive atte a sviluppare le abilità legate all’uso del dizionario integrano il lavoro che la classe svolge con Get Smart. Sono state pensate per migliorare le abilità legate all’uso del dizionario facendo conoscere agli studenti la varietà di informazioni che si possono trovare in un dizionario. Teacher’s notesQueste domande si concentrano su una pagina della sezione Italiano-Inglese del dizionario.
Per la prima domanda, gli studenti devono leggere le informazioni nel riquadro blu sotto la voce deer, sotto la quale si trovano ulteriori accezioni. Le informazioni nel dizionario potrebbero aiutare con punti di grammatica o con questioni culturali, o come in questo caso, dare agli studenti la possibilità di ampliare il lessico.
Le costruzioni necessarie a fornire la risposta corretta si trovano sotto la voce stessa, quindi sotto cercare si trova l’espressione inglese look something up. Questo viene confermato nell’esempio che dà la risposta alla domanda numero 2. Fate notare che la traduzione che gli studenti cercano non sempre compare per prima nella voce. In questo caso gli studenti devono leggere la seconda accezione prima di trovare controllare.

Teacher’s notesLe forme comparative e superlative degli aggettivi lunghi (tre o più sillabe) si formano premettendo more e most all’aggettivo. Per gli aggettivi brevi si trovano informazioni nel dizionario. Un aggettivo regolare come fast forma il comparativo e il superlativo aggiungendo rispettivamente -er e -est, tuttavia alcuni aggettivi presentano delle irregolarità ortografiche. Confronta i verbi lie e lay. Il verbo lie (lay,lain, lying) e intransitivo e significa "sdraiar-si, essere sdraiato": I was feeling ill, so I laydown on the bed for a while.Nonmi sentivobene, cosı mi sono sdraiato sul letto per unpo’. Teaching NotesIl participio presente si forma aggiungendo -ing al verbo, sebbene ci siano delle irregolarità ortografiche. Se gli studenti controllano la voce swim, noteranno (-mm-) che ricorderà loro che bisogna raddoppiare la m prima di aggiungere -ing. Allo stesso modo chat raddoppia la t finale. Se cercano una parola nella sezione Italiano-Inglese del dizionario, comparirà un asterisco (*) laddove c’è un’irregolarità nella forma del verbo. Sotto mentire si trova to lie*, se non ricordano perché questo verbo ha una forma irregolare, devono consultare la voce lie nella sezione Inglese-Italiano del dizionario e controllare. Il participio presente di questo verbo si scrive con y. Fate notare che ski non si comporta nello stesso modo. Al contrario, ha una forma regolare, quindi non presenta l’asterisco sotto la voce sciare. (Ci sono esempi sotto questa voce che confermano la forma che gli studenti devono scrivere. Se controllano il verbo ski nella sezione Inglese-Italiano, vedranno che il participio presente è stato scritto per rassicurarli semplicemente perché è insolito trovare una i dopo l’altra in inglese.)
