GET OUT ON THE ROADAs you know, September 19th was National Model A Ford Day and our clubcelebrated with a tour to the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar. We had a good turnout and a nice tour through the museum, which is always fascinating. Then lunchat Los Tres Hermanos, real Mexican food, in San Fernando. What a great way tocelebrate our hobby! As I mentioned at our September meeting, the Model T Ford Club is disbandingand will be no more after their October meeting. I also received an emailinforming us that “Wings and Wheels” will no longer meet in Solvang, also, dueto lack of participation. It’s a sign of the times. With that thought in mind, I want to urge you to consider your involvement in ourclub, less we fall prey to the same circumstance.
At our upcoming October 15th meeting (7:00 PM), we will be electing our officers for next year. I can’t expresshow important this is to the future of our club. We can’t just sit back hoping someone else will step up and takeon the responsibilities of running our club. Please consider serving on the board or taking one of the otherpositions of responsibility to help our club stay strong. I know that some of you are serving now or have servedin the past and that is certainly appreciated. If you have never held a position with the club or are not servingnow, I urge you to consider doing so. I look forward to many more years of enjoying this hobby – working onand driving our Model As in the company of our club members and with your help, this can happen.Don’t forget our annual blanket party coming up on October 18th, from noon to 3PM, at Galpin Ford. It’s potluck, so bring a dish and your appetite and help tie a blanket or two. It’s for a good cause. And I’ll see you forbreakfast at Bob’s on October 17th.
Clark
Ed. Note: Thank you Clark for not turning us green (and yellow and red) with envy about your trip to New England
Roberta Boardman (1938 - 2015)
The original Valley Girl, Roberta was born and raised in the San FernandoValley. She and her husband Dallas raised 4 children but that hardly kept themaway from local activities, volunteer work, politics and travel. World travelers,Roberta and Dallas also loved to tool around in in one of 2 Model As they had(or their DeLorean or classic Mustang). They joined our club in 1980 andwhile neither is listed as past president, both exercised influence in the shapingof our club and we are reaping the benefits even today - it was Roberta who spoke on behalf ofthe club to her friend Bert Boeckmann and it was decided that they would allow the use of theroom we use for meetings today.
Thank you, Roberta for all that you did for the club and the community. You will be missed.

Thank you for your indulgence. The Rumble Sheet is a week and a
day late! But what a wonderfulexcuse I have! Whit and I spent 31
days on the road. Anchored on a weddingin Chicago, we motored up to Yellowstone,
through Montana, saw a cousin I hadn’t seen since1958 in Minnesota, witnessed Whit’s niece get married inChicago and then drove back to Los Angeles taking (for themost part) Route U.S. 66. We stayed at era motor courts andate at roadside cafes (including frozen custard atTed Drewes in St. Louis.)I didn’t ‘understand’ 66 when we started.I think I do now and I want to understandmore. If you have 3 or 4 hours I’d love toregale you with stories about the trip. Jim

The meeting was held at Galpin Ford in Van Nuys and started at 7:33 p.m.President –Clark let us know that the San Fernando Valley Model T club is disbanding and will hold their last meeting next month. Clarkinvited any members who would like to continue touring and/or be involved in a club to join us. Clark also talked about the recentautomobile accident involving a 1931 Model A car in which both people were killed. The couple were members of the Santa Anita A’s andthe cause of the tragic accident is still under investigation. However the media gave the accident quite a bit of coverage because an old carwas involved but Clark wanted to assure members that our cars are safe.We will be looking to replace several members for the 2016 & 2017 board of directors as several members are finished with their two yearterm. Please consider helping our club thrive by running for the board.Tonight we are starting our dues collection for next year. The dues remain the same at $31.00 which includes $5.00 for the ACCC.The White Elephant sale was a great success and we raised $867.00 for the club. Our annual Parts Exchange was also successful and raised$1,150.00 for the club. This year we introduced the 50/50 raffle at the Parts Exchange and we raised $193.00Membership – Stew is not at the meeting tonight. Clark draws the members only and Mark Lichtman wins.Treasurer – Stan reviews our finances and has a financial sheet available for anyone who would like to have one.
Secretary – Julia Its banquet time again. Our banquet this year will be held on January 10again at Maggianos Italian Restaurant. The price remains the same - $35.00 each or $70.00per couple. See Julia at the general meeting to sign up and feel free to call her at (818)943-1601.Arlene brought a wonderful collection of ladies compacts and accessories that she has been collecting for years andshared these with us.Diana reminds us that the blanket party is fast approaching on October 19.Tours – Harvey reviews the upcoming tours and activities.President – Clark lets us know that participation in our annual charity is way below normal. We have only collected
$241.00 to date. The club will match donations to $500.00 so we are asking members to please open theirwallets and donate these last couple of months. We only have two meetings left this year-October andNovember and we would like to raise another 259.00 so we can match to $1000.00Ladies only was donated by Sandy Norris and won by a guest Ellen Marinachi. It was a gift card to Starbucks. No Historian report tonight.
President – Clark thanks Blake for all of his extra help with the parts exchange. Blake lentthe club several food machines and put in a lot of extra effort.Clark has finally located a good quality white shirt for our club and has jackets ready togo and available for immediate purchase.Lucky Carol Levin wins the 50/50 raffle. There are 31 people and 4 Model A’s here tonight. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45p.m.
