  2. 2. Gestational Hypertension or Pregnancy- Induced Hypertension (PHI) occurs after 20 weeks gestation of pregnancy with an elevated blood pressure of more than 140/90 for at least two occurrences which happen 6 hours apart and without proteinuria (Adis Medical Writers, 2014).
  3. 3. 5-10% of pregnancies are affected by gestational hypertension and the blood pressure returns to normal after the pregnancy. A specific reason for gestational hypertension has not been determined. (Ehrenthal & Jurkovitz, 2011)
  4. 4. Gestational Hypertension should be treated if blood pressure is consistently high or there are other complications. Methyldopa and labetalol are first line agents for treatment (Adis Medical Writers, 2014)
