• From 70 plus millions of Indian continental (Jambu Dweep) history, present day Ayurveda oldest doctrines emerge 14000 years ago
• Ayurveda is a holistic approach where –the soul, body and mind are interconnected for health and disease
• Typology of Ayurveda distribute in 8 parts viz. Kayachikitsa, etc.

• Panchakarma a specialized area of procedural administration by which the Ayurveda eliminates and regulates the Dosha and Body components
• Panchakarma mainly of external (Abhyanga, Phizichil, etc) and internal (Vaman, Virechan, Vasti, etc)
• Ayurveda Panchakarma is a green revolution in medical practice – treating the patient naturally by nature available
• Ayurveda concerns about diet and regimen regulations of day, night and seasons of ones individual – There by the correction of self made mistakes
derived life style disorders are treated

• Panchakarma includes 5 chief eliminative procedures –– Vamana (emesis) – Virechana (purgation) – Vasti (enema)– Nasya (inhalation) – Rakta mokshana (Blood letting)

• The Ayur- Ergonomics are so developed from centuries and precise to fit for the needs of everybody.
• All the equipments used in Panchakarma are nature friendly to prepare, use and incinerate

• An extraordinary and awesome Disc in hard black stone that on its two facades encloses the “Secrets of the Life”. Regarding the stone dating, even if being it has not been possible to assign it a precise historical period, it seems manufactured approximately 6000 years ago…

• Ageing (British) or aging (American) is the accumulation of changes in a person over time
• Age is measured chronologically, and a person's birthday is often an important event. However the term "ageing" is somewhat ambiguous.
• Distinctions may be made between –– "universal ageing" (age changes that all people
share) – "probabilistic ageing" (age changes that may
happen to some)– "social ageing" (cultural age-expectations of how
people should act as they grow older) – "biological ageing" (an organism's physical state
as it ages)

• Rasayana Therapy –– Long model includes all Panchakarma
along with internal medication periodically– Short model includes regularity in Diet,
Regimen, Sleep, work, etc.
• Rasayana Panchakarma– A relatively easy model to regulate body
seasonally – eg: Vaman in Vasanta ; once a year and so periodically – the virechana, Vasti, Nasya, etc.
– Monthly once purgation– Weekly once full body massage, steam, – Weekly twice head massage

• •Sirtuins (SIRT1–7) are NAD+-dependent deacylases that promote homeostasis.
• •SIRT1 activation shows promise for the treatment of aging and age-related diseases.
• •Natural and synthetic SIRT1 activators (STACs) have been discovered.
• •There is a common SIRT1 activation mechanism mediated by an N-terminal domain.
• •Clinical trials indicate that STACs are efficacious but questions remain.
• New studies indicate that both natural and synthetic sirtuin activating compounds (STACs) work via a common allosteric mechanism to stimulate sirtuin activity, thereby conferring broad health benefits in rodents, primates, and possibly humans.

Panchakarma for Cognition Panchakarma in Geriatrics

• Loss of Buddhi (cognition) / Loss of Smriti (memory)• Shiro Vasti - It is procedure of retaining
medicated oil on the head in flexible container brimmed over head• This procedure clams the mind and
enhances the intellect – commonly prescribed in psychological / psycho somatic disorders
• Shiro Dhara - It is procedure of pouring medicated oil / milk / butter milk on the fore head from a container• It induces smoothening effect to regulate the
stress and there by the stress induced disorders

Panchakarma for senses Panchakarma in Geriatrics
19– Akshi – visual problem
– Regular eye wash with medicated decoctions and NetraTarpana, a procedure of moistening the eye with Ghrita(Lipidophilic and Hydrophilic herbal ghee)
– Nasa – loss of smell– The loss of smell or any other conditions referral to ENT
or CNS are treated with nasal route administration of medicine, periodically
– Karna- loss of hearing – Many ear problems of ageing are treated with regular ear
drops before head bath and also as a treatment module– Jihwa – loss of taste
– Kvalabraga / Gandusha (gargling) and Ksheera Dhoomaare the methods of treating tongue and oral cavity

• The skin is the most exposed organ to the atmospheric conditions loose its elasticity and protective mechanism
• Regular 7 posture Abhyanga (massage) and Phizichil (Kayaseka) at least once in 7 days retains the skin tone and protects from diseases of skin and nervous system

• Many disease of lifestyle annoys in the later stages of ageing viz. DM, HTN, Joint pains, etc.
• Ayurveda Panchakarma do suggest different measures of temporary and permanent solutions – if the patient is ready to change his / her life style
