    General Conditions

TUSPL shall provide introduction letters for the commencement of work for concerned

authorities. However, the liaison for smooth conduct of the site work shall be in your scope.

TUSPL shall also provide the location of all boreholes

Geotechnical Investigation contractor will deploy sufficient bore drilling rigs and appurtenant

equipment at site for this assignment.

Mobilization/de-mobilization to /from all sites including movement to and from the sites of

special equipment like platforms, other equipment and accessories, arrangements for water/airany other items required for drilling operations shall be made by contractor .

TUSPL shall not be liable in any manner whatsoever for any mishaps / incidents at sites

involving contractorswork teams. However contractor shall ensure all safety drills and adequateprecautions to avoid mishaps and loss of life/property.

All laboratory /field tests shall be carried out strictly in accordance with the guidelines /

procedures prescribed in the relevant codes of practice of the BIS like IS: 1892. These shall also

    be mentioned in investigation report.

No accommodation for site office or for technicians working at site shall be provided.

    Scope of Work

The scope of work covers the following.

Soil investigation in all types of soil strata on land at indicated locations by the Engineer inCharge of TUSPL.

The investigations to be carried out by drilling bore holes to the depths until rock strata is metand inside the rock up to 3 m, using suitable rigs and drilling equipment suitable to obtain the

core samples of the strata drilled.

Collection of core samples from all boreholes, applying appropriate preservatives and storing

and transporting them to the designated location for safe storage. The core samples shall be kept

in wooden boxes at the rate of one box per borehole. The boxes shall be clearly marked with

identification number of the borehole and its geographical location.

    FIELD TESTS:-

Some of the important field activities requires to be made a part of investigation are

    Highlighted below:

Collecting Undisturbed soil sample (UDS) andconducting StandardPenetration tests (SPT) at every 1.5m interval alternately at every change of

    Strata for cohesive soil.

Conducting SPT at every 1.5m interval or change of strata for non cohesive

    Soil.

Record of rock recovery and calculation of RQDGround water level shall be recorded and indicated in report.

    LABORATORY TESTS:

It is suggested to conduct at least following tests:

Grain size distribution and Atterberg limits.Free Swell Index test, if free swell index of soil sample is above 100 then free

Swelling pressure test shall also be conducted.

    Natural moisture.

Chemical analysis (including sulphates as SO3, chloride and PH).Chemical analysis (Only sulphate as SO3) on 2:1 water: soil extract of the

    soil sample.Unconfined compressive strength

Unconsolidated undrained -direct shear test / triaxial testConsolidation test on cohesive soil (Results to include unit weights, specific

Gravity, e-log p curve, virgin curve, p0, e0, Cc, Cv and mv for all pressure

    Increments, etc).
