The workshop will focus on the use of geostatistics for resource modelling. Basic geo-statistical theory will be presented, followed by practical tools and exercises to facilitate decision-making during model construction.
This workshop will benefit resource geologists, mine geologists, geoscientists, and engineers by enhancing their skills when using and/or constructing resource models for evaluation of mineral deposits. Exercises will focused on Datamine’s Studio 3™ software.
• Exploratory data analysis including capping analysis and compositing
• Variogram calculation and modelling
• Selection of estimation methodologies, search ellipses, data restrictions and other associated parameters
• Model validation and sensitivity analysis
• Special topics for mining geostatistics
The Workshop
The Instructors
Sébastien Bernier, MSc, PGeo has 10 years of geological modelling and mineral resource estimation experience. His expertise in three-di-mensional geological
modelling, geostatistical analysis, variog-raphy and mineral resource estimation includes numerous commodities in a variety of deposit types.
Chris MacInnis, PGeo has more than 9 years of experience con-sulting with private industry and govern-ment organizations in various commodities, including gold, copper,
silver, nickel, coal, oil and gas. Chris’ ex-pertise includes solids modelling, resource estimation, performing project audits and due diligence studies. Chris is an expert in CAE Studio 3 and macro authoring.
Oy Leuangthong, PhD, PEng has more than 10 years of experience in geostatistics for resource characteriza-tion and uncertainty assessment. She has taught geostatistics
to engineers and geologists from interna-tional companies in the Americas. She has authored and co-authored two books, and more than 40 technical papers on geosta-tistics. She will present the concepts and workflow for resource estimation.
The Topics
The workshop registration fee is C$2000 plus applicable tax. This fee includes all instruc-tion and workshop materials.
No geostatistics background is necessary; however, some experience with resource modelling is recommended.
Participants are required to bring their own laptops, dongle, and mining software with which they should be familiar.
