Preliminaries:AUDITIONS – Music and information are on the band website at www.georgetowneagleband.org*All band students are in the Marching Band. Auditions are for class schedule pacement.• Benold MS auditions will be on Monday, May 21 at GHS starting at 7PM
• Forbes MS auditions will be on Tuesday, May 22 at GHS starting at 7PM
• Make Up auditions will be on Wednesday, May 23 at GHS starting at 7PM
• GHS auditions will be during their band final exam
• Results will be announced on Thursday, May 24 on the Last Day of School
• Drumline auditions were last Friday and Concert Percussion auditions will be in
December
• Color Guard auditions have already been held and Winter Guard auditions will be in
December
Preliminaries:• PHYSICALS – required to be completed by each band student prior to Summer Band
Camp. Please print out your physical forms at www.georgetowneagleband.org
• The band will need a copy and the trainers will also need a copy. Please be sure to
have TWO copies turned in by July 30th to the band staff
• HANDBOOK – will be updated over the summer. An electronic copy will be
available on the band website at www.georgetowneagleband.org. Students will need
to come to Summer Band with a signed acknowledgement page at check in.
Mini Band Camp:• DATES & TIMES – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday May 29th – 31st 8AM -2PM
• LUNCH – 11AM-Noon(Closed campus. Students will need to bring a sack lunch)
• LOCATION – GHS Performing Arts Center and Football Practice Field or Stadium
• GOALS – Fundamental undertsanding of Marching band procedures, rehearsal
techniques, marching style, stand tunes and show music.
• ATTIRE – Running Shoes, school appropriate athletic shorts, WHITE t shirt, baseball
cap and sunglasses.
• SUPPLIES – Instrument, music, large water jug (filled with ice and water), and
sunscreen
Summer Break:
• ENJOY YOUR BREAK!! Get plenty of rest. Have fun with your friends and family.
• STAY ACTIVE! Get outside everyday! Condition you body for the heat to come.
• DRINK PLENTY OF WATER! Hydration does not start on the first day of summer
band
• GO SEE LIVE MUSIC! Go see Art in the Park, 4th of July concerts, Austin area
venues…
• PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE everyday. Even if you only play for 30 minutes a
daily this will help to keep your chops in shape.
August
Summer Band Camp:• DATES AND TIMES
– Week 1: July 30-August 3, 8AM-5PM
POOL PARTY, Friday 8/3 at 7:30PM
– Week 2: August 6-10, 8AM-5PM
MONEY NIGHT, Monday 8/6 at 6:30PM
– Week 3: August 13-17, 8AM-5PM
PICTURE DAY, Wednesday 8/15 at 5PM
BAND BBQ, Friday 8/17
– Week 4: August 20-21, 5-9PM
Money Night:• DATE & TIME – MONDAY, AUGUST 6TH AT 6:30 PM
• LOCATION – BAND HALL 1
• FAIR SHARE FEES – Approximately $400
• FEES INCLUDE:– Transportation– Pre Game/Contest Meals– Show Shirt/Triangle T/Band Shorts– Marching Shoes– Uniform Cleaning Fee– GHS Band Water Jug

Private Lessons:
Each student is highly encouraged to participate in the private lesson program. These lessons are a supplemental resource to reinforce fundamentals of musicianship. We have several very talented instructors available to work with your student during or outside of the school day.

Rehearsal Schedule:DAY TIMES
MONDAY 4:15-7:15 PM
TUESDAY 4:15-6:15 PM
THURSDAY 4:15-6:15 PM
*Rehearsal ends at the printed time, meaning we will stop playing at that time. The students will have about 15 minutes of travel and put away time. You should plan to pick up your student about 15-20 minutes after the conclusion of rehearsal.

We are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it because in the process we will catch excellence. We are not remotely interested in just being good.
